FLASH 55 - OUR SPECIAL PLACE

What is love?
I cannot say
I feel it more
every day

A kiss, a cuddle
A simple word
The joy I feel
Is quite absurd

Summer rain
Brings tears of joy
Dreams of children
A girl or boy?

My wish to bring
A smile to your face
Our love combined
A special place

Flash Fiction - Each Friday, I compose a short story of 55 words - no more, no less. If you would like to join in the fun and games... post your story and report to the boss G-MAN. HAPPY BIRTHDAY

It's almost my birthday. Went out with Steve and my parents last night to celebrate.

Steve bought me this beautiful makeup kit and a manicure set. I feel so spoilt.

The birthday girl.

Mum and Dad.

Yummy Chinese dinner.

Dad pretending to smoke his napkin.

Coco had a treat too.

MICROFICTION MONDAY

"Someone should tell the Prince we prefer the ladies. He'll always be a frog if he waits for one of us to kiss him."

Here's my take on the above picture. I'm not sure if that is a frog or a leaf in the picture but this is what first popped into my head.
If you'd like to give Microfiction Monday a try...visit the site which is listed on my side bar.

Have a great week everyone.

FLASH 55

Two sides
to every story
One party
strives for glory

Emotional blackmail
confuses the heart
Constant control
keeps you apart

Deceit and lies
become the heroes
Empathy and love
totaling zero

The battle is short
one side victorious
But life is long
people are curious

Another scenario
begins to unfold
The true story
finally told

POETRY CONTEST

I entered a Poetry Contest on the Helium website recently. I was doing OK in the beginning but have slipped way down in the rankings :( I'm surprised really as my poetry usually ranks really well. I have three poems in Number One spots but unfortunately none of these titles are in the contest, typical, LOL!  Here's a little one I wrote to poke fun at myself and the contest. Took me all of two minutes and is complete drival so they'll probably love it.

My favourite poet is me
How could it not be?
I relate to every rhythm and rhyme
I love to read it to pass the time

My favourite poet is me
How can others not see?
My heart and soul in every line
Penning the words is sublime

My favourite poet is me
Is there any hope for me?
Poetry competitors don't share my views
But entering keeps my amused

FLASH 55

I didn't post a 55 this week as I was a little under the weather. My other half has posted his first 55 in my honour. What a sweetheart!

COCO'S WORLD

The house we live in has a fully fenced back yard but that hasn't stopped Coco escaping on several occasions. Luckily, she has either found her own way home or to our neighbours house. We couldn't figure out how she was getting out at first, until we saw her trying to squeeze through a tiny space under the fence. I couldn't believe she could get through there until I saw it with my own eyes. Dad gave us some logs to block the holes and this seems to have fixed the problem.

However, now there is a new fascination with the neighbour's fence. Coco has always been interested in what's going on over the fence. She's a real outdoors girl and amuses herself out there for hours...until recently. The past few days she has been keeping a vigil at the fence. She only leaves to eat and to come and find us for the occasional cuddle. It can't be another animal attracting her attention, if it was a cat or dog, she would bark and growl. She just sits there, with her head under the fence, wagging her tail. I'm thinking that maybe my neighbour has been feeding her scraps from the fence. Any other ideas?

All else is well here. Steve is working hard but I'm not (post to follow).I have a follow up Doc's appointment on Friday. Post to follow re that as well. A continuation from my wee rant on face book a few weeks back. Don't worry, all is well (as far as I know) but I'm mighty pissed off about it.

Yikes, I think I need a secretary to keep up with all my posts. LOL!

I think that's all folks. Oh, Steve and I watched Bucket List, last night. I LOVE that movie.

LIVING WITH WHITESNAKE

I can't believe Steve and I have been together for six months already. Time sure does fly when you're having fun. Don't get me wrong, this past six months have been the hardest (emotionally) I've ever had and I am constantly exhausted but it's also the happiest I have been. I've never laughed so much or felt so at peace with myself. Thanks for that Mr Snake :)

We were talking the other day about how much we have both changed since we've been living together. I've had many relationships in the past were my partner has told me they love me just the way I am but then all they have tried to do is change me. It's great to be in a relationship now, were I am changing, not because I am told there is something wrong with me but because I want to.

Last year, I was medicated up to the eyeballs, staying up till the early hours of the morning drinking myself to sleep and living a life which revolved around the computer. Now I'm up most days by 6.00, in bed by 9.30, off my medication, exercising, have cut down on my drinking heaps and actually enjoying getting out of the house and spending time with people in person.

Actually, I think I have the better half of the deal 'cause Steve is working harder than ever, getting up earlier and staying up on his days off to debate the terrible singing on Idol. He swore he would never watch reality TV. He says he watches because he knows I love it and he wants to spend time with me but he's the first to turn on the telly on Wednesday night ( Master Chef NZ) night. Sorry babe, and you thought your secrets were safe with me.

Anyway, we have lost a lot of friends and family but I haven't given up hope. It's true that at times like this, you really find out who your true friends are. My parents and sister have been really supportive. It took a little while for them to get to know Steve but they can see how happy he makes me. Maybe in time, others will realise that too. In the meantime, we are as happy as pigs in shit.

I'm thinking of doing a weekly, Living With Whitesnake post over on our joint blog (see toolbar for link). Often, something will happen and we both say, 'We really should blog about this." We both have so much going on at the moment that we run out of time to write. I'll let you know when I post over there anyway.

Hope you had a fantastic Easter.

I'll leave you with a poem...

A POEM IN MY POCKET

A poem in my pocket
close to my heart
it's there to remind me
of your love
when we're apart

A poem in my pocket
I read every day
it's short and so simple
Yet shows you love me
in every way

A poem in my pocket
Brings tears to my eyes
I know it's always there
but each day
it brings new surprise

IT'S A MIRACLE...I CAN SEE

I've been complaining to Steve for weeks about my headaches. Every time I spent too much time reading or watching telly, I would get a sore head. I credited this to eyestrain and the fact I was getting older. I wear contact lenses every day and have a different prescription strength for each eye. I changed to a pair of new lenses recently and my headaches went away. I'd been putting the wrong lens in each eye. Talk about a blonde moment!

LAST OF THE SUMMER WINE

Enjoying the last of the sunny days. We headed out to lunch at our favourite restaurant. We've been there so many times, the waitress asks us if we'd like our usual. Followed by a walk on the beach.

FLASH 55

'I’m preparing a family lunch but I forgot dessert. The shops are shut for Easter, lunch will be ruined,' she sobbed.

The stranger placed his arm around her to give some comfort. She turned to thank him. His face was filthy and his clothes torn. A gentle reminder of the true meaning of Easter.

HAPPY EASTER

Easter in NZ is becoming like Christmas. Everyone is rushing around buying chocolate , stocking up the cupboards because the shops will be closed for a few days, packing up the car to escape for a while. In other words...stressing out! Slow down people. Do something nice for someone, tell somebody you love them, celebrate life, think of someone other than yourself for a change. Isn't that what the spirit of Easter is really about?
