Hurt is necessary for humans to understand happiness and pleasure. Terrific poem!
And sometimes you have to use the mask the because the reflection of pain back and forth is too intense. It took me a long time to accept "cliche" word at important moment, but I could never come up with better. So the question becomes what is the mask for?
American culture seems rife with masks and mask-changing...but this can be so useful...
