Why do kids scream when they play?

They squeal, giggle and laugh all day.

Why does our dog sleep half the day away?

She wakes to eat, cuddle and play.

Why do we work hard all day?

It makes us scream in a different way.

We need to take time to laugh, cuddle and play.

It was dented and battered, but it stayed closed, and the three men burned in 2000 degrees of heat for a little over five minutes. On the other side of the door, there was a goldfish in a bowl, swimming in water that wasn't even warm.

Flash Fiction Friday - Cold Feet

There's been a lot of talk about Kim Kardashian's divorce this week and some of the things she said reminded me of how I felt before my wedding. So on this topic, there's a little of me mixed with a little imagination for my 55 this week.

Susan felt strangely calm until the day before her wedding. Now her mind raced, her feet paced the linoleum floor, faster and faster, trying to keep up with her thoughts.

"It's just cold feet," said her friends.

Ten years later, her feet were frozen in place. She should have run while she'd had the chance.

Blood Bath

I wrote y'all a story for Halloween.

Her remaining senses kick into overdrive as her eyes become accustomed to the darkness. The scent of copper assaulting her nose, the dripping sounds from many taps? She steadies herself against the wall, flinching from slippery slime beneath her hands. The taste of fear but all too late. The vision before her predicts her fate.
