WELCOME TO HUBBY

Hi guys,

Wanted to let you know hubby and I have combined our blogs here. He is going to be sharing his adventures and pics from his time away. Yikes, sounds like he's in prison. I know you'll all make him feel welcome (well except Muttars but that is to be expected). Welcome to my wacky world Hubby. Be afraid, be very afraid.

Sunny California

I wish! Has been quite cool here today. I have been wiling away the daylight hours, waiting for sleep to come. One less sleep before I head home. It's hard to be away from your loved one for a long time, and it takes it's toll. You have to be strong in your committment to each other and remind yourself that it is a necessity. After all, I'm not good at anything else.........

THE GAME OF LOVE

Why hide behind a name
Short skirts and low tops
The lines remain the same
The lies have flown so long now
You don't even feel the shame
You forget I know you as myself
I see through all your pain
'Cause I have played with the best
But life is not a game

FLASH 55 - IN HER SHOES

They could be sisters; short golden hair, deep blue eyes, cheeky grin. The elder curiously studies the younger's interactions with the guests. Knowing how differently she would feel walking in the girl's shoes.

The wedding video ends. She places her younger self back on the shelf. Her contented smile shows how far she has come.

FLASH 55 - UNTIL IT'S CARVED IN STONE

Walking aimlessly in the rain had appeased Rebbecca previously but not tonight. Nothing can wash away the suffering she has endured. Moonlight illuminates her surroundings, revealing a gravestone.

'Dearest Lily, a soul taken too soon.'

Dates reveal Lily lived only a few short months. Rebbecca weeps for this unknown child. By proxy, liberating her grief.

A WOMAN SCORNED

I was going through some of my writing and found this one I wrote a few months ago. Must have forgotten to take my happy pill that day, hehe.

Loyalty, honesty, integrity,
qualities she holds dear.
Devoting herself to him,
intentions quite clear.

Intuition sends a warning,
quietly tucked away.
Bliss is all consuming,
she'll deal another day.

Cracks are appearing.
Where's the man she adores?
Riddles are unfolding,
2 and 2 finally become four.

She gave him the best of her.
Yet, he turned his back.
He made her the villain,
so others could attack.

Keep this in mind.
Choose your battles well.
For a woman who is scorned,
will see you rot in hell.

LOVE THY NEIGHBOUR

Coco has been struggling with the heat over summer. When hubby is home she is on her best behaviour and cools herself in the stream at the bottom of our garden. As soon as he is away, she let's her hair down and explores the neighbourhood.

Luckily, she never wanders far. Recently, I've had such comments as:

"Don't worry about Coco, she's sitting on our couch."

"Coco's at our place, cooling off in the fountain."

My girl is obviously welcome in many places but I'm working on keeping her more under control - not an easy task.

My neighbours are the best!

Which reminds me, my neighbours recently won a house in a lottery. Lucky beggars!

TURN YOUR BLOODY PHONES OFF

I was looking forward to a nice, relaxing time at lunch. It all started off well, ordered lunch, relaxed a bit, next thing ring ring. A lady picked up her phone and started yelling into it at the top of her voice about some multi million dollar property she was trying to sell. She hung up, I started to relax again, man behind me started making arrangements on his phone for next week.

I was having lunch alone so I think I was there for half an hour - tops. I counted six phones going off in this short time. When I dine in a restaurant, I turn off my phone or put it on vibrate. If it rings and the call is important, I take it outside. I think the way a lot of people behave regarding taking phone calls in restaurants is rude. Am I being over sensitive about this? What do you think?

THERE'S NO PLACE LIKE HOME

Hubby and I have live in our present home for most of our married lives. We learned recently that the spacious paddock behind our house will soon be full of houses *sigh* . The time has arrived to decided if we will renovate or move on. With this in mind, we took a trip to Waiheke Island to check out some properties.

WAIHEKE ISLAND IS A 45 MIN FERRY RIDE FROM HOME

SOMETHING INTERESTING HAPENED TO MY TOP, I THINK IT'S THE SHADOW OF THE STAIRS ABOVE.

BYE BYE AUCKLAND

We had a fabulous time but didn't experience that feeling you have when you walk into the 'right' place. Oh wait, I did get that feeling once but the land alone was worth over a million, yikes!

We decided to stay where we are for now and do the old girl up - that's the house, not me.

Now where to start?

SUNDAY SCRIBBLINGS

The prompt from Sunday Scribblings is - Dear Past Me, Dear Future Me.

I began writing a piece about letting go of the past and living in the now but decided to leave you with this quote instead:

The past does not equal the future.

FLASH 55 - A WOMAN

I've cheated a bit with my 55 this week (well, a lot actually) but I've been away for a while and not quite back into writing mode yet. I know you'll forgive me. This was sent to me by one of my dearest friends. I have no idea who wrote it and it's a couple of words over the limit but I love it . Hope you enjoy it too. Missed you guys.

" A Woman "

"Be very careful if you make a woman cry,
because God counts her tears.
The woman came out of a man's rib.
Not from his feet to be walked on.
Not from his head to be superior,
but from the side to be equal.
Under the arm to be protected,
and next to the heart to be loved."

IN OTHER NEWS...

Mum's arm is healing nicely and she can't wait to get back to work. Another gene I must have missed out on.

I had a visit from my friend who (or should that be whom?) I've known since school days. He's been living in America for around nine years now. We usually catch up once a year. I miss him heaps and every time he comes home, we get along famously. It's like he's never been away.

Rugby is back on telly. I have a wee wager on my boys winning the Super 14 but it's not looking promising so far.

Hubby and I moved our caravan from our spot at the beach to my brother-in-law's place. We stayed with him and his wife for the weekend to celebrate two birthdays. I drank too much (what a surprise) and don't remember getting myself to bed but apparently I was very amusing.

Do you remember last year when I experienced a nasty fall? My hip has healed nicely but I've been having terrible neck pain. I'd been delaying getting it seen to as I am a big woos. I've finally been to see the osteopath, after four treatments I feel as good as new.

Seems to be very quiet in blog land. Hope you are all well.

That's all folks!

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY

Recently, hubby and I celebrated our 15th Wedding Anniversary. I treated him to a surprise stay at the Country Club. A Wedding reception was being held in the main dining room which was very entertaining. It's the first time I've seen a belly dancer performing at a wedding! And no, it wasn't me, it was a professional dancer. And no boys, I did not take pictures of her.

I LOVE BLOGGING BUT...

I love blogging but it interferes with my rather hectic 'lounging around at the beach' schedule. It's summer holiday time for hubby so we've been spending some time at the beach.

AT LEAST I DIDN'T RUN OUT OF WINE

ALL THE COMFORTS OF HOME. HAVING A BATH IN THE MIDDLE OF A PADDOCK WAS A FIRST FOR ME.
