PET TRIVIA

Cats have better memories than dogs. Some tests have concluded that while a dog's memory lasts no more than 5 minutes, a cat's can last as long as 16 hours - exceeding even that of monkeys and orangutans.

Cats have more than one hundred vocal sounds, while dogs only have about ten.

Contrary to popular belief, dogs do not sweat by salivating. They sweat through the pads of their feet.

Dogs' eyes have large pupils and a wide field of vision, making them really good at following moving objects. Dogs also see well in fairly low light.

Every know dog except the chow has a pink tongue - the chow's tongue is jet black.

It has been established that people who own pets live longer, have less stress, and fewer heart attacks.

Scientists have discovered that dogs can smell the presence of autism in children.

The theobromine in chocolate that stimulates the cardiac and nervous systems is too much for dogs, especially smaller pups. A chocolate bar is poisonous to dogs and can be lethal.

When you are confronted by chocolate just be thankful your not a dog eh!

Keith, I hope you don't mean a Chow, that tongue might be a cause for concern lol.

I wondered why cats sing better than me!

  3. Dogs don't sweat; they dissipate heat through their tongue (panting).
No animal with uniform body hair sweats.

There is an animal, though that does sweat through it's feet. I suspect elephant but I know they use their massive ears; that's what they're doing when they're flapping them (that or attempting to scare off a threat).

    And...

...cats are bastards! The Big Man leapt someone's fence the other night after one. LMAO - straight over, no ifs, ands or buts; the moggy near shat itself, lost it's footing and went over the gate sideways. HAhahahaha! You go Big Fella!

  4. Keith - I'm sure your memory isn't that bad :)

    M - yd?

Toadee - How much do Toads remember Tim?

M - I have waited for this day for so long. You are WRONG. Dogs do pant to reduce their body temperature for sure but they also have some sweat glands. In their paws if I remember correctly and they are not the only animals with uniform body hair who sweat either. Go look it up :) *Does happy dance*

    Woohoo...you go Scoob!

  9. You are correct that chocolate can be dangerous for dogs but didn't know that cats were smarter than dogs.
