A year ago today
Didn't expect to feel this way
Forlorn and ashamed
No one else to blame

A year ago today
Why did it end that way
Lies and deceit
No thoughts of who would weep
A year ago today
No one standing in my way
Hearts trampled in my wake
Their give, to my take
A year ago today
Gave my old life away
Too late to explain
My excuses, no ones gain
A year ago today
A new life on its way
His love will find a way
To guide me through this day
I love you unconditionally babe xxxx
ReplyDeleteThanks for getting me through the day babe. Love ya xxxx
ReplyDeleteAwh that's sweet. :O)

ReplyDeleteI like the sense of acceptance here and how it resolves into the finding of love again.

ReplyDeleteLove is like a bad penny - it always keeps turning up - er, except that it's not bad. Yeah, that too.
ReplyDeleteAre any of us in the place we thought we would be in the past? Thanks for reading and commenting on my poem. Hope your week goes well.
ReplyDeletea year ago today...and what an anniversary you can now share...cheers pete
ReplyDeleteThe past is a prologue, when we decide to change, a new chapter(s) opens...new journeys begin. Fold the map of remembrance and create another, even better one. Thanks for stopping by.
ReplyDeleteVery intriguing poem, KB. But from the exchange between you and Whitesnake, it sounds as if it all came out well in the end. Nice One Shot.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much everyone.
ReplyDeleteJadey is that you? I will come by and see you.
This is lovely!
ReplyDeleteDitto what Maureen said. You are blessed.
ReplyDeleteI think so.
ReplyDeleteReally we don't know what each year will bring, do we? When we look back a year, sometimes it is amazing the changes that the year has brought. So much unexpected. Some good, and some bad. Some things end. Some things begin. Life throws us a curve ball sometimes & then brings us back!
ReplyDeleteIt is amazing what a difference a year makes. I enjoyed your poem, and especially loved his comment about unconditional love. That is awesome.
ReplyDeleteVery touching Karen I enjoyed reading this
ReplyDeleteThe story of 'moving on' :)
ReplyDeleteThis flows so easily, nice poem.
ReplyDeleteNicely written!
ReplyDeleteGlad to see the positive note at the end!
ReplyDeleteVery touching poem !
ReplyDeleteWritten by a true soldier of life. We live, we try, we hurt....but we must move along with time. I sense the pain, loss, hurt and hope here.
ReplyDeleteWell penned. Onto Tomorrow!
Endings can be devastating, but there is always that chance to rebuild something stronger than the original.
ReplyDeleteLovely and sooo creative ~ ^_^
ReplyDeleteHappy Day to you,

A year can mean so many changes, and even if ends are painful, new beginning can make everything better.
ReplyDeleteA year ago today"...it all sems so long ago, and yet it was only yesterday." Life can turn on a dime...
ReplyDeleteVery powerful. Wishing you healing.
ReplyDeleteOh so sorry! The poem is powerful and moving. Loved the poem, hate the pain!
ReplyDeleteI can feel the strength throughout the lines of this powerful poem.
ReplyDeleteThe repetition make it sound like a mixture of prayer and a promise. There has been loss, and it hurts, but hope still remains...
ReplyDeleteLovely poem. A year ago is not that long anymore it seems.
ReplyDeleteA beautifully written poem!
ReplyDeleteA beautiful "Prayer"

A year ago huh, lessons learnt, live goes on.
ReplyDeleteHappy Sunday
Much💟love
An intriguing, well rendered piece. 'A year ago today Gave my old life away' … an awesome line that gave me pause. We give our old lives away - I think - in years, and months and days … sometimes in seconds.
ReplyDeleteNice to know it was a year ago and not today!
ReplyDeleteAh, the tentativeness of a new start in life, wondering if it’s right, what you’ve left behind... Lovely!
ReplyDeleteNice to be in a position to look back from a better vantage-point.
ReplyDeleteLovely poem of love. Made me wonder about myself a year ago today.
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary Day and don't feel too guilty for having a bit of a yell.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your heartfelt poem
ReplyDeleteIt is very important to have your own voice and way of life without others trying to alter you. There will always be some sadness in our lives, hopefully we can always deal with it.
ReplyDeleteA year ago was different from today.
ReplyDeleteMuch has changed along the way.
Everyday is a new day! :)
My WOW Gadgets - Anita
Nice flow, feelings expressed so honestly.
ReplyDeleteLuv it.
Happy Sunday
much love...
A year ago today, a milestone in the journey, I am sure. Hopefully, the road has brought new found joy and adventures.
ReplyDeleteI love the line, that runs through your poem..."A year ago today..." A year can be a long time, a life time, or not time at all. Loved this poem.
ReplyDeleteSo much can happen in a year. It's always (well, almost always) good to be still and take stock of the year that's just passed and see how far we've come, and to celebrate what has improved in that time.
ReplyDeleteA year sounds brief compared to the many but a year holds so much. In one year I lost my mother and a dear cousin and three friends yo suicide yet you put hope at the end of this poem. Hope is right where it should be.
ReplyDeleteA year is long...but also very short- a matter of days. It's a blessing to be able to tell the tale.
