FOUR SEASONS IN ONE DAY

We have been experiencing the strangest weather lately. Beautiful sunshine, followed by thunder, lightning, storms and a couple of days ago - hail. I don't think I've ever seen such weather in my neck of the woods. What's going on?

LOOK CLOSELY TO SEE A RAINBOW

IN OTHER NEWS...

I weighed myself this morning and am pleased to report I've lost another 2kgs. Woohoo! All the walking, eating properly and reduction of the vino is paying off. My goal is to lose one more kg then I'm done.

AND JUST SO YOU KNOW...

There are one million ants to every human in the world.
Frogs cannot swallow with their eyes open.
A quarter of the bones in your body are in your feet.

BATTEN DOWN THE HATCHES

This is my third attempt at writing this...the power keeps going off!

The North Island of New Zealand is experiencing one of the worsts storms in a decade.
We are expecting widespread rain and gale force winds of up to 130kmph.

We've been told to only go out if necessary. Sounds like a great excuse to stay in my pyjamas if you ask me. I was lucky enough to fill up the kettle, heat up the house and fill up the bath tub before the power went out the first time, woohoo!

The yard outside is a mess. We've already lost one of our huge trees which was thankfully not too close to the house.

I'm supposed to be going out for my Dad's birthday dinner this evening but we will have to wait and see. The height of the storm is supposed to hit later on this evening. Probably as I sit down to watch the NZ/Australia Rugby Test.

I'll keep you posted.

STORMY WEATHER

We've been experiencing terrible weather in my neck of the woods. I spent yesterday under the covers as the rain pelted down and the thunder roared. Conditions have improved considerably today but not without taking a toll. Looks like the birds have been making a nest here but I consider myself lucky to have only a hole in the roof to worry about.

Six students and one teacher, from a college close to my home, died while on a canyoning trip. Apparently, there was a flash flood on the river. Why anyone would be canyoning during such heavy downpours is beyond me. Such a tragedy.

My thoughts are with the families tonight. I can't begin to imagine what they are going through.

Hug your kiddies and your loved ones next time you see them...they can be taken away in an instant...scary thought aye.
