30 days to a happier, healthier me - day 5
I'm interested in finding new recipes and trying them out. My goal is to cook a new recipe each week to broaden my cooking horizons. Whitesnake and I have already started this and our recipe this week was supplied by our good friend Missy. Thanks for the recipe hun, we orginally intended to have a little bowl each before dinner but it was so good, we ate the whole lot. Follow the link below to see more pics and the recipe details. Recipe details and pics here
All is going well. I hear most of my blog friends are freezing in the cold while we are in short sleeves and shorts. Had to be up at 4am this morning to pick Whitesnake up from his last night shift. Glad I won't have to do that anymore. Coco has written a wee post...Coco's Inner Peace . The Christmas tree is up and most of the Christmas Shopping is done. Our Tomato plants are growing well and we have five small fruits so far. Time to relax and put our feet up.
See you tomorrow with some pics from my walk at the park.
Lots of Love

I Love My Blog
day 12- how you found out about blogger and why you have one
![]() |
| Me when I first started blogging |
I found out about blogger from my good friend, Missy. She started a blog a few years back and encouraged me to do the same. I was unsure of what I would write about in the beginning but once I started, there was no stopping me.
I started blogging to connect with others. I was feeling very lonely and lost at the time. I began writing about funny things that happened to me during the day and really enjoyed the way I could make others laugh through my writing. Missy also introduced me to Friday Flash 55 which encouraged me to write a short story each week of only 55 words. You can read my first 55 here. This took me on a different blogging journey, I would continue to write about my day but I used the 55 stories as a way of processing things that had happened to me in the past and putting them into a short story. Once I started opening up, I found I needed another outlet and this was the time I began writing poetry on my blog as well.
I love blogging, I can sit down at the computer (often with no idea of what I will write) and the words flow out of me. I'm often surprised when I read back what I've written because I hadn't realised I was feeling a certain way or I had anything to say.
I started blogging to connect with others but it actually took me on a journey of reconnection with myself. A journey I am loving and will continue to blog about for many years to come.
Happy blogging

Ask KB - The Rugby Connection
Today's question is from the lovely, Missy.
Missy - I would like to know what turned you on to Rugby? I know women are getting more into sports, but why Rugby?
KB - Excellent question Missy.
My Dad is a huge football fan. I remember when I was a wee lass he would spend hours watching and playing football. He didn't have much time for watching other sports but would make an exception when the All Blacks (NZ's international rugby team) were playing. Back in those days the All Blacks were a force to be reckoned with and would leave the opposition quaking in their boots.
I moved to NZ with my family when I was 15. Coming from England, which has a huge football following to NZ, which has a passion for rugby, was quite a change for me. I remember I would often ask my boyfriend if he would like to go out on the weekend and he would stare at me like I was mad and reply, "But the ruggers is on." Or I would phone him and he would say, "I'll have to call you back, the rugby is on." As you can imagine, rugby wasn't very popular with me.
Some considerable time later, a group of friends went to watch Auckland play a rugby match. I kept the telly on just in case I saw them in the crowd. Before the game started, there was an interview with one of the players - Carlos Spencer. So began my obsession with Carlos, or should I say, rugby, hehe. I began watching all the Auckland games and was surprised how much I enjoyed, not just the perving but the actual game, once I learned more about the rules.
I've been to several matches over the years and cheer on the Auckland teams and the All Blacks religiously. I have met (stalked)many of the players. I've been known to get out of bed after four hours sleep and watch a rugby test before heading off to work. When NZ were knocked out of the last World Cup, I actually wept (sad but true).
Here's a little vid for you to enjoy.
I think many women in NZ start watching Rugby because of the way the boys are promoted as eye candy or because many of their men folk watch the game but after a while they realise they actually enjoy watching the games too. Hope this answers your question Missy.
Have a great day all.

A TRAVELLING KIWI
I'd like to introduce you to my friend, Mr Kiwi.

He's going to accompany me on my future travels. Pics of where he's been so far are on his new blog.
Mr and Mrs Kiwi are hoping to start a family soon. I'll be looking for volunteers to adopt the babies and photograph them on their travels. My dear friend Missy has first dibs on the little Kiwis, any other takers?
P.S. My stalker has been fired and replaced by Missy. She'd found Kiwi's blog before the paint had dried, LOL.

INTRODUCING...MISSY
I'd like to introduce you to my friend..... She's funny, kind, loving, loyal, a talented poet, a Mum and one of my dearest friends.

A couple of years ago, I joined Helium (a site for writers). If I remember correctly, Muttars and Keith were already writing on blogspot and many more of us followed suit when we grew tired of the restrictions placed on us by the Helium site.
One of the first people I came into contact with over on Helium was Phil, affectionately know to Missy and I as sandwich...it's a long story. Anyway, Phil was always mentioning this lovely lady he knew named Missy and suggested we get in touch. He thought we'd get on like a house on fire. He was soooooooooo right. Missy and I have remained good friends since, she is like a sister to me.
Missy and I are alike in many ways but I think what we have most in common is our sense of humour. I find this amusing in itself because for a start she is American and many Americans I have come into contact with don't relate to my sense of humour. Also, she is a woman and I usually get along better with men. I know a conversation with Missy isn't going to be hours going on and on about shoes and shopping, etc. Not that there is anything wrong with that but I tend to nod off when those kinds of topics come up.
Missy and I support each other, cheer each other up when needed and generally just have a laugh. I'd be lost without her friendship.
Why don't you pay her a visit and tell her I sent you.
Love you Missy!
Bye y'all

P.S. If you'd be interested in being introduced to any more of my blog buddies...drop me a comment here and I'll do another poll.

FOUR SEASONS IN ONE DAY
We have been experiencing the strangest weather lately. Beautiful sunshine, followed by thunder, lightning, storms and a couple of days ago - hail. I don't think I've ever seen such weather in my neck of the woods. What's going on?

LOOK CLOSELY TO SEE A RAINBOW
IN OTHER NEWS...
I weighed myself this morning and am pleased to report I've lost another 2kgs. Woohoo! All the walking, eating properly and reduction of the vino is paying off. My goal is to lose one more kg then I'm done.
AND JUST SO YOU KNOW...
There are one million ants to every human in the world.
Frogs cannot swallow with their eyes open.
A quarter of the bones in your body are in your feet.
POLL RESULTS
Thanks for those who voted. Looks like Missy is IT, hehe!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MISSY
Dearest friend,
I want the blog world to know it's your birthday and how much you mean to me!
I can't believe that this time last year I didn't even know you. You are so wonderful, sweet, kind, considerate, loyal, funny...the list goes on and on.
Thank you for being my friend and listening to me ramble on about my worries. Sometimes I don't know where I would have been without you. I'm just praying you don't lose your mind and decide to tell the world about my deep, dark secrets. What a best seller that would be.
Enjoy what's rest of your birthday
Love you heaps girl
Don't ever change
Here's to many more years of friendship
