I was watching a news item on telly concerning cruelty to pigs in NZ. It was heartbreaking. I was shocked and disgusted at the way some farmers treat their animals. It certainly made me question the type of food I eat and the life it has lead before reaching my dinner plate. Steve and I already had a plan in place to grow our own fruit and veg (so we know it's natural) and hope to have our own chickens in the future but I still feel I need to do more to control what I'm putting into my body. I've made a pledge to myself to investigate where the food I am eating has come from and what has been involved in getting it onto my plate.

ReplyDeleteI'm with John on this one. Cruel farming (though I hesitate to even call the profit-oriented agribusiness farming)is worldwide. Not willing to become a vegetarian, my solution is to buy locally from small farmers who treat their animals humanely.
