Let The Games Begin

The big day has finally arrived, London Olympics 2012, let's hope security has now been sorted.

I can't believe I'm writing this but, according to a UK official, these two ladies are too fat!

Friday Flash Fiction - Trapped

Each Friday I write a short story in exactly 55 words. If you'd like to join in the fun and games, write your story, visit G-Man and let him know you've posted.

source www.public-domain-image.com

He escaped after five years as a prisoner of war. He was hailed a hero. He returned home a free man but his wife no longer understood him, his young children barely remembered him and the paparazzi stalked him constantly. A prisoner in his own home, he felt more trapped than he ever had before.

Hmmm, where did this story come from? Must have been watching Homeland again, hehe! I've been watching the rerun on telly as I missed it the first time around. Don't tell me what happens please :)

Have a great weekend all!

Maori Language Week

This week is Maori Language Week in New Zealand. Maori is the name of a race of people and a language in New Zealand. The Maori language is seen to be dying out somewhat here, hence the Maori Language Week. To be honest, I don't know a lot of Maori words but while doing a little research I found this...Longest place name: Taumata-whakatangihanga-kōauau-a-Tamatea-pōkai-whenua-ki-tāna-tahu (Tamatea, the man with the big knees, who slid, climbed and swallowed mountains, known as landeater, played his flute to his loved one). Love it!

Anyway, in an effort to learn some more Maori and share with you all too, I've listed a few greetings down below. If you'd like to learn the correct pronounciation or more Maori words you can follow this link...100 Maori words

E noho rā Goodbye (from a person leaving)
E haere rā Goodbye (from a person staying)
Haere mai Welcome!, Come!
Hei konā rā Goodbye (less formal)
Kia ora Hi!, G'day! (general informal greeting)
Mōrena (Good) morning!
Nau mai Welcome! Come!
Tēnā koe formal greeting to one person
Tēnā kōrua formal greeting to two people
Tēnā koutou formal greeting to many people
Tēnā tātou katoa formal inclusive greeting to everybody present, including oneself

Hei konā rā

Hello Sailor, It's The Master Chef Challenge

We've just spent a lovely couple of days with Whitesnake's brother and sister-in-law. Didn't do much, the rain was pouring down most of the time so we had a relaxing time watching old family movies and footie, reading, talking, laughing, drinking and eating. I loved the family movies, seeing Whitesnake's Mum and Dad (I didn't know Whitesnake when they were alive), his huge family as kids and him in his Navy outfit when he was just a wee lad was a real treat.

Now, to these monstrosities...

Last time, K and I stayed with us, it was a big joke that Whitesnake and I spent so much of our spare time watching cooking programmes. K and I saw these swedes and immediately thought of us, they purchased them for $1 each and brought them all the way from Invercargill to us. We laughed so much. K said our Master Chef challenge was to make something delicious with these ingredients. Whitesnake did include some swede in a curry he made but I am thinking along the lines of a candle holder, LOL. Any ideas?

I can't believe these are the only pics we took, I'm usually the picture taking queen. Oh well, I'll have to take heaps next time we see them.

Hope you are all well,

Visiting Time

I'm looking forward to spending a few days with Whitesnake's brother and sister-in-law. Just a little more cleaning to do and if I have time, I'll wash Coco...she'll hate that. Fitting in a trip to my parents today too as it's my Dad's birthday tomorrow. Busy, busy, busy. I'll be back in a few days with some pics.

Be good.

Coco Helps With The Housework

This post has been shared with Camera Critters.

The other day I moved a chair into the kitchen to make some room while I was cleaning. I couldn't figure out where Coco had gotten to until I went back to the kitchen. There she was sitting in the chair looking like it's quite normal for her to be sitting in the middle of the kitchen in a random chair. She's not usually allowed in the kitchen but I did chuckle...at least she was out of my way I guess.

Friday Flash Fiction - Hero

Mr G has been away for a while due to illness but he's back and raring to go again. Welcome back G, you've been missed!

Each Friday I write a short story in exactly 55 words. If you'd like to join in the fun and games, write your story, visit G-Man and let him know you've posted.

Fire engulfed the children, they screamed in terror. A man appeared from the shadows to sweep them away. He was hailed a hero, given a medal of honour. The praise filled him with a warmth inside he’d been missing since childhood, but nothing could compare to the thrill he felt while watching his fires burn.

P.S. The house has finally been sold and I've had my way too long haired chopped off. I feel like a new woman...woohoo!  I'll post a pic when I get my hair looking as good as it did in the salon, this could take a while, LOL.

Winter's Day At The Beach

These pics have been shared with...  Our World Tuesday

Whitesnake and I decided to head to the beach for some much needed stress release. Although a little on the chilly side, the fresh air did us the world of good.

I'm Back

Hi all,

Things are moving along nicely now. My ex and I accepted an offer on our house, it was much lower than we wanted but we  want to move on with our lives. All conditions have been met, we just need to finalise a settlement date before going unconditional. I feel like a great weight has been lifted, what a relief. This past year has been really tough, so I'll be glad to have all this behind me and move on with my life with Whitesnake.

Hope you've all been well. I'll check in with you in the next couple of days.

Missed you guys
