Poetry: Gossip

Post bumped up to share with with Poetry Pantry ,originally posted 27/4/2011

Sweet seduction
Sows the seed
Wanting, yearning
Fulfilling needs

Momentum builds
No turning back
Doubt consumes
Fuels the attack

Whispers abound
Rumours spread
Pulling back
No searching ahead

Truth forgotten
Scandal full blown
Lies take on
A life of their own

See ya later

  1. The truth about gossip laid bare!
Strange isn't it how humans will walk the darkside without a care.

  3. At first I thought you were going for a spring poem. The poem seemed to take a sharp unexpected turn. I always like when that happens.

  4. What I dig about this poem is that the form fits the subject matter, since the regular rhythm supports the inevitable conclusion at the end. "Momentum" and all that. Good job!

  5. You've got that right...a life of its own. Lot of harm done by gossip...but it is a reality. Also, from a technical standpoint...the meter and rhyme were great. Vb

Dustus - I did begin the poem with something else in mind but this it what I finished up with. I love it when that happens too.

  10. Loved this lilting look at how sometimes people care more about being seen as the one "in the know" than actually knowing the truth.

  13. Yes, lies do take on a life of their own. Spread a story about someone, and the story grows. One lie begets another. Very sad and predictable.

  26. Apt words, KB.

    Momentary pleasure,
    Then guilt without measure.
    Covered with lies,
    Truth perhaps dies!
