Early years, caring for others,
casting her needs aside.
Mind and body in their prime,
ticking clock far from her mind.
His relief, as each month passes,
her desperation hidden inside.
Brimming with wisdom, bursting with love,
she welcomes her second chance.
But her body grows weak, time marches on,
Mother Nature will finally decide.
Flash Fiction - Each Friday, I compose a short story of 55 words - no more, no less. If you would like to join in the fun and games... post your story and report to the boss G-MAN. If you're not interested in contributing a story, feel free to read the other entries. I'm sure any comments you have would be appreciated.
Happy reading and writing!
Brilliantly done my love.

Very deep, loved that line about the ticking clock far from her mind. Sadly, doesn't stop it ticking...

wonderful 55...you are only as old as you think you are...hold back those clock hands just for a day. smiles.
ReplyDeletemy 55 is up!
I always told my mother-in-law that she seems much younger than her age, but I couldn't figure out her secret for the longest time. After visiting with someone older than myself but younger than my mother-in-law it dawned on me. She doesn't wear pants with an elastic waistband. Avoid those. That's what ages people. ;-)
ReplyDeleteThere's so much depth behind those words. Loved it.
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking you've been thinking what I've been thinking. I never used to worry about the ticking ~ now it tends to ring loudly in my ears. Live life to its fullest every day and have no regrets (one of my mid-life mottos). Great 55!
ReplyDeleteI'm up after a few weeks off:

ReplyDeleteHere's mine Take Pleasure - 101
Have a super terrific weekend.
Wow! This is excellent!
ReplyDeleteThat was very beautiful. How we sometimes put all that we want aside then when everyone has left us and we are all by ourselves, we start to really care. But then, it's too late.
ReplyDeleteMine is up!
I'm rooting for that second chance.
ReplyDeleteHere's mine: Coin Collectors
Nicely done. "Her desperation hidden inside." Very poignant.
