Keeping Up With KB

I've been overdue for a hair cut for soooooo long. Dropped Whitesnake off at an appointment yesterday and decided to pop into the local hairdresser to see if she could fit me in. I'm so glad I did, I think she did an excellent job.

When I left the hairdressers, it was windy and raining so I rushed to the car with my head down and popped in my key. It wouldn't budge and I was gettting very wet and frustrated. I looked into the car and realised it wasn't mine and ran quickly to my car which was parked a few spaces away. Thank goodness the other car didn't have an alarm. Such a blonde moment.

That's all from me today. Whitesnake has the day off so we are going to have a relaxing day together.

See you tomorrow

The Good, The Bad And The Rugby

Steve and I recently enjoyed FIVE days off together. We had a busy, fun and productive time.

The Bad

I'll begin with the bad so I can get it out of the way and also, the bad will finish up in the good section later. Don't you love it when that happens?

I, or should I say we, decided we should spend some of our time off making a start on the Spring Cleaning. Steve does an excellent job with the cleaning AND he gets out of bed much earlier than I do AND on his days off, makes my breakfast AND brings it to me along with my coffee. Not only is this a fantastic way to start my day but by the time I leisurely crawled out of bed, on this occassion, much of said Spring Cleaning was either done or under way. Isn't he wonderful?

I decided to leave him to it and head outdoors. Coco, (otherwise know as the dog of eternal stench), was badly in need of a bath. Usually, I would leave it till she's quite ripe because she hates having a bath but my parents were due for a visit. I donned my rubber gloves, grabbed the dog shampoo and bucket and got stuck in.

It was now time to tackle the garden. Steve usually removes most of the weeds when he mows the lawns. However, we have a small garden near our front gate which can't be seen from the house or the road and therefore gets a little neglected. Basically, the only people who see it are our visitors and since Mum and Dad where due for a visit...you guessed it...time to get stuck in.

Our car was overdue for a warrant of fitness. I was going to book her in for a service and W.O.F at the usual place but I was worried because we only have the one car and we'd have a fair distance to walk home. Also, I knew the car needed a few repairs, which could be expensive.

The Good

Our home is looking great.

Coco looks very cute and smells good after her bath.

Garden looked much better for Mum and Dad's arrival.

Dad had a fabulous Father's Day.

We noticed a new vehicle testing garage when we were out shopping. We booked the car for a service, enjoyed the scenery on our lovely 20 min walk home and the car came back all shiny, clean and ship shape AND it wasn't as expensive as we thought.

The Rugby

I'm sooooo excited. It's less than a year (by a couple of days) until the Rugby World Cup kicks off in New Zealand *does Dance of Joy as demonstrated here*.

As if that wasn't exciting enough, the All Blacks will be playing Australia tonight for the Tri-Nations trophy. Actually, New Zealand are too far ahead points wise, for any team to catch them, which means they've already won the Tri-Nations.  I'll still enjoy watching the game and cheering my boys on.

Hope you are well.

CALLING ALL BEER WENCHES

CALLING ALL BEER WENCHES

An advertisement placed on NZ website - Trade Me, for a midget or large chested woman has caused quite a stir. The men who placed the ad, were searching for a beer wench to fetch them cold drinks while they attended the Rugby World Sevens in Wellington. The successful applicant would have to wear an outfit picked out by the men and be paid in cuddles and shoulder lifts. The site received eleven applications before it was removed because of complaints.

Now, where did I put my CV? NOT

COURT UPDATE

The court ruled in my favour, woohoo! I knew I was in the right all along but it's nice to see it in writing. Also, this means I'll get my $250 excess back. The other driver has to pay my insurance company for damages and the Judge said I could not have avoided the accident and was not contributory negligent. I say again...WOOHOO! What a relief to have that sorted.

SPEAKING OF DRIVING...

The average person spends 2 weeks of their life waiting for a traffic light to change.

BOOKS READ THIS MONTH

1 The Dark Tower - The Drawing Of The Three - Stephen King

Oh bugga, I guess this should be titled BOOK read this month. Better luck next month KB.

IN OTHER NEWS

I went to the supermarket to purchase some Kiwi Fruit but the only ones I could find were grown in Italy. WTF? For those who don't know, Kiwi is a slang term for New Zealander and I live in NZ. You'd think it would be easy to find a home grown Kiwi Fruit.

Bye for now.

BEEN THERE, DONE THAT...NEVER AGAIN, I HOPE

I went to court for the first time yesterday. Steve and I set off early because neither of us knew what the parking situation would be like. Basically, there wasn't any! There's this huge new building with about 20 car parks. Luckily, we found a park over at the shopping centre and headed off to court.

I felt very intimidated while I was there. I've never seen so many guards in one place. Both Steve and I felt overdresses in our 'good clothes'. Most of the public there were dressed in shorts and jandals (thongs, flip flops). I felt really out of place as most of the other people there were Maori or Islanders.

As most of you are aware I have suffered from panic attacks in the past. I didn't feel too bad considering I had to wait for a while in a crowded area with a lack of fresh air. I was hanging on to my bag for dear life (my over active imagination tellin me I was probably in the presence or murders, rapists and thieves). I'm really glad Steve was with me, I wouldn't have wanted to be there alone.

The thing that unnerved me the most was how comfortable everyone else looked. Like they hung out there everyday. They was a family of children sitting across from me. The eldest (who looked like she needed babysitting herself), playing cards with her sisters and appearing as happy as if she were sitting in her front room.

The hearing wasn't too bad. There was myself, Steve, the other driver, a representative from my insurance company and the judge. My heart felt like it was going to jump out of my chest when I had to explain the events in my words but I calmed down after that. The judge will make his decision and advise us within the week. All that worrying and laying awake at night for something that lasted no more than 15 mins.

I'm happy it's over and done with and I managed to get through it OK. And as Mum said, this time last year, I was feeling so anxious, I probably would have ran out the door.

I don't have much else to report this week. I had my hair chopped off earlier in the week. Feels good to have all that straw ( I mean hair) off my neck in this hot weather.

That's all folks!

THE STORY SO FAR

As you know, Hubby and I have parted ways. It had been on the cards for a while and it was my decision to leave. I won’t go into the details as that is between Hubby and I. We had some wonderful years together but it was time for me to move on. I’ll leave it at that.

Leaving has been the hardest thing I have ever done but I am happy with my decision. I’ve been doing what has been ‘expected’ of me for many years and now I feel it is time to stop putting everyone else’s wishes first and find me again. Sounds so cliche but it’s the truth.

I knew friends and family would be shocked and confused when I left. It’s true that at times like this, you really find out who your true friends are. Which reminds me, a big thank you to all you wonderful bloggers who have sent me kind wishes and encouragement. There are few people outside of blog land who have stuck by me.I have found there is a special person out there for me and I would have thought if they truly loved and cared for me, they would want me to be happy. My step-daughters aren’t even talking to me, which is devastating but I can understand why they are angry. Hopefully, they will come around but if not, who am I to tell them what to think.

Anyway, enough of that, I was writing to tell you guys what I have been up to. Every day there has been a different challenge to overcome and I will admit it is hard but I feel really happy. It’s hard to explain, I feel a wave of calmness and love washing over me. My anxiety has become almost non-existent (amazing considering what a strung out mess I had become).

So, I moved out of my huge house and started renting a small room on a weekly basis. It wasn’t long until my best friend moved in as well (you probably know him already as Steve/Whitesnake). We are still here and feeling quite at home. The landlord is adorable and looks after us well, I think he wants us to stay forever but this place is hardly big enough to swing a cat (lucky we don’t have one). We do have Coco to consider though. Our landlord (Mr. Lee) said she could stay here on a trial basis. Unfortunately, my dog appears to be racist and barks and growls at him. He didn’t ask her to leave but I didn’t think it was a good idea to have her growling at him all the time. She has moved back home with hubby for the time being and I visit her often. We have been searching for a new place to live but it’s hard to find a landlord who will agree to have a dog live on their property. Besides, I think I will be scarred for life if I don’t escape from this wallpaper soon.

Anyway, all is well with me but I have limited Internet time here. I miss you guys and will catch up with your blogs as soon as I can. You know where to reach me in the meantime.

Oh, I almost forgot, look what happened to my baby car.

Some bastard ran through a red light and hit me. Luckily, I was travelling slowly (my light had just turned green), or someone could have been hurt. The other guy wouldn’t even give me his insurance details and I had to fill out a Police Report the next day. My insurance company has finally found him and he says I am the one who went through a red light. What a wanker!!!!!!!!!! I had a witness in the car with me and since I was the one, who followed the correct procedures, looks like he hasn’t got a leg to stand on but it still makes me angry. In 21 years of driving, I’ve never had an accident or even a parking fine. Least I have my car fixed and nobody was hurt…that’s the important thing.

Lots of Love
