Teaser Tuesdays ~ The Winner by David Baldacci
Teaser Tuesdays is hosted by the lovely MizB of Should Be Reading.
Here's how it works...
Grab your latest read, open it up and share two sentences from the page. Easy as that. Don't forget to link back to MizB and share the title and author of your book so others can add to their TBR (to be read) list if they wish.
Here's my teaser...
She had tightly clutched her mother's hand at his funeral, neither woman feeling the least bit saddened and yet having to display appropriate emotions for the many friends and family of the departed. In the strange way the world sometimes worked, Benny Tyler had been immensely popular with just about everyone except his own family because he had been generous and cordial with everyone except his own family.
Have a great day/night and I'll see you again soon.
Happy reading,
Love KB

Kathy Reichs is one of my favourite authors. You may think this is because the popular TV show Bones is based on the books which coincidentally stars David Boreanaz *drool* (apologies for drooling darling Steve). Now I've lost my train of thought...but no, I began reading the books way before the show started.
The plot is fast paced, the characters amusing and the forensic detail fascinating. If you are a fan of Bones (obviously) or any of the other C.S.I type shows
KB's World
Things have been a little up and down at the KB and Whitesnake abode due to much outside interference and we've both had an annoying cold. Sometimes we wish we could become hermits, lock the door and keep everyone out. We are on the mend now, my parents are back from a well deserved break in Fiji and all is back on track. Coco remains oblivious - oh to be a dog.
Righto, I have spent enough time on here. I'm off to have a few laughs at New Zealand's Next Top Model.

Any time of the day is perfect for reading. Any place. Any excuse. Reading is the last refuge for addictive personalities; there are no bad side effects from reading too much.

8. The Dark Tower (The Dark Tower, Book 7)
Yay, I've finally finished the whole series. I remember the first time I finished it, I was disappointed in the ending. I thought maybe this time, as I'd read each book in succession, the ending may have meant more but alas no. Still a crackin good read! Time for something different.
KB's World
I've been under the weather the past few days. Steve has been an angel, he's been cooking my meals, making me hot drinks, grocery shopping, you name it, he's been doing it. Unfortunately, just as I'm feeling better, he's starting to cough and sneeze. Looks like I'll be playing nurse for the next few days.
Apart from that, things have been going well. I had a call last night from a friend I haven't been in touch with for ages. It was really good to hear from her and fill her in on everything that's happened recently. It's wonderful to know that not everyone who knew hubby and I as a couple, is against me :)
Can't believe it's a new month already. I set myself some health goals last month and surprise, surprise, didn't stick to them. Oh well, new month, fresh start and all that.
That's all folks,
Back to my book. I've almost finished another one - one of the wonderful things about being ill, more reading time!
Bye for now

There they stood, ranged along the hillsides, met
To view the last of me, a living frame
For one more picture! In a sheet of flame
I saw them and I knew them all. And yet
Dauntless the slug-horn to my lips set,
And blew. 'Childe Roland to the Dark Tower came.'

I've almost finished the final book in The Dark Tower Series
Today I'm grateful for...sunshine - it's getting a little warmer, Spring must be on the way.

KB GETS MOVING
- Robert Hutchins
I couldn't have said it better myself, Robert, hehe.
Actually, I'm doing ok with my exercise plan. I wore my pedometer for a few weeks to monitor how many steps I was doing. I was only shy of the 10,000 a day by around 3,000 steps, which works out to about a half an hour walk. Funnily enough, the instructions with the pedometer suggested that an average day plus a few extra steps here and there and a 30 minute walk, should do the trick. But of course, I wanted to try finding a way around it, LOL!
I was reading an interesting book about womens' health and it suggested looking at walking not as exercise, but as a chance to get out in the fresh air on your own to think and meditate on your life. Sounds much better than exercising. Changing my frame of mind about these things has helped me heaps. The funny thing is, once I get out there, I love it. Coco usually has me giggling about something within no time, I listen to embarrassing pop music (without fear of mockery from Mr Whitesnake), come up with writing ideas and inspiration for life in general.
Yesterday, I tried getting back into Yoga. Spent most of the time laughing or cursing under my breath. It's a little difficult to stretch and bend with a sore shoulder and a Coco Spaniel sticking her head in your face. I was surprised how much flexibility I have lost in the last couple of years. I used to do muscle strengthening exercises a couple of times a week at home or at the gym but it seems I'm getting a little stiff and worse for wear as I age. I've noticed quite a difference since I've turned 40. Perhaps I'll persevere with the yoga a bit longer before trying something else.
Everything is going well with me at the moment and I'm feeling happy, loved and motivated.
That's all for now folks.

HOLIDAY TIME

I can't stop giggling because after looking at the pics, it appears we live in a shed. That's not the case...Steve likes to cook on the bbq in the garage.

CALLING ALL BEER WENCHES
CALLING ALL BEER WENCHES
An advertisement placed on NZ website - Trade Me, for a midget or large chested woman has caused quite a stir. The men who placed the ad, were searching for a beer wench to fetch them cold drinks while they attended the Rugby World Sevens in Wellington. The successful applicant would have to wear an outfit picked out by the men and be paid in cuddles and shoulder lifts. The site received eleven applications before it was removed because of complaints.
Now, where did I put my CV? NOT
COURT UPDATE
The court ruled in my favour, woohoo! I knew I was in the right all along but it's nice to see it in writing. Also, this means I'll get my $250 excess back. The other driver has to pay my insurance company for damages and the Judge said I could not have avoided the accident and was not contributory negligent. I say again...WOOHOO! What a relief to have that sorted.
SPEAKING OF DRIVING...
The average person spends 2 weeks of their life waiting for a traffic light to change.

IN OTHER NEWS
I went to the supermarket to purchase some Kiwi Fruit but the only ones I could find were grown in Italy. WTF? For those who don't know, Kiwi is a slang term for New Zealander and I live in NZ. You'd think it would be easy to find a home grown Kiwi Fruit.
Bye for now.

THE GOOD, THE BAD AND THE RUGBY

I’ve been too busy to write so here’s a quick summary of what I’ve been up to this week:
THE GOOD
My Steve celebrated his 50th birthday.

Our landlord and his wife cooked a delicious Korean BBQ lunch, many beers were sunk and a good time was had by all.
We found a lovely new place to live which isn’t far from work, is close to my parents and the best part…has a fully fenced section for Coco to run around in. We’ll be moving in before Christmas. Woohoo!
We’ve been furniture shopping today. All we need now is a fridge and a few other bits and pieces and we’ll be sweet.
I've started reading again...yay!
22 The Seventh Scroll - Wibur Smith
23 The Gunslinger - Stephen King
THE BAD
I received my first speeding fine…bugga!
I will need to attend the small claims court re car insurance claim as the driver who crashed into me has decided I was the one who went through a red light. Apparently, his insurance company can’t decide if it was him or a woman who was driving and my insurance company said they would be surprised if he shows up at the hearing so I’m not too worried. It’s more of a nuisance really as I have enough going on with our move and Christmas coming.
Steve was assaulted at work . He was punched in the head…TWICE so I took him to the Accident and Emergency room. Other than being swollen and a little shaken up, he’ll be fine.
THE RUGBY
All Blacks gave the French rugby team a hiding…nuff said.
I’ll update after we’ve moved.
