Keeping Up With KB

Hi all,

I've been feeling happy and relaxed the past few days.  We've had some beautiful Spring weather, along with a few rainy days.  Whitesnake and I have been making the most of the sunshine by taking a few walks. Nothing like a walk in the sunshine to give mood and energy a boost. We put the clocks forward last weekend so we have an extra hour of daylight to enjoy too.

Enjoyed lunch with Whitesnake and my parents a couple of days ago. They had raved on about a new Indian restaurant and wanted us to try it out. Whitesnake isn't much of a curry lover and I couldn't image eating a curry for lunch, but it was delish. The atmosphere, decor, food and company was amazing. We had curry, a soft drink, rice and naan bread for just $10 each. A bargain.

P.S. We've been back for another curry since I first started writing this post.

P.P.S Whitesnake baked Turkish Bread and Orange Cake yesterday...YUM. I'm so lucky.

Teaser Tuesdays - Under The Dome by Stephen King

Teaser Tuesdays is hosted by the lovely MizB of Should Be Reading.

Here's how it works...

Grab your latest read, open it up and share two sentences from the page. Easy as that. Don't forget to link back to MizB and share the title and author of your book so others can add to their TBR (to be read) list if they wish.

Here's my teaser...

Her eyes were wide, but there was no panic in them, only bewilderment. There was no time for panic.

Feeling a bit blah the last few days mood wise but there's still a lot going on I suppose. Whitesnake has started his new job and all is going well there. House is still on the market, no offers as yet but some interest. Have had three session of CBT so far. Felt on a real high when I left the session last week as I felt I was making a lot of progress but since then, been feeling a bit unmotivated. I have homework from the session each week and I haven't completed any so far. Perhaps I shall go and do that now and see how I feel after.

Hope you are all well

Keeping Up With KB

Wow, it's a boiling day out so I decided to stay inside by the fan. We are having the strangest Summer, lots of rain and wind. It's hard to adjust when we finally have a few hot days.

One of my resolutions earlier this year was to eat a good breakfast every morning. I've made this resolution before and it hasn't stuck but so far so good this time. I found a really great website...
Special K  which has daily exercise tips and food plans. Whitesnake and I have been following the breakfast suggestions on there which has made it much easier to stick to our goal. I haven't been following the exercise plans as yet but that is next on my list.

I love writing poetry but have been having a hard time finding anything to write about lately. I picked a title at random today and just went for it. I think it's pretty average but at least I've started again. Better luck tomorrow me thinks. There is an upside to my bad poetry writing though...I do my best work when I'm depressed...so I must be happy right now. Yay!

That's all from me folks.
See you tomorrow for Simply Delish Chilli Con Carne. It's simmering away as we speak and smells rather good.

Keeping Up With KB - Resolutions

I can't believe we're one week into the new year already. It's been a busy week for us but a good  busy time.

I've made my resolutions, as I do every year. I'm pleased that some of the resolutions I made last year have stuck. I've given up coffee, we've started growing our own veggies  and I eat fruit and/or vegetables with most of my meals. Still working on the fitness, (as usual) and drinking less wine, (as usual) but I'm getting there.

As well as the old faithfuls (exercise, drinking), I've come up with a few new resolutions this year. I want to continue to grow more of my own veggies. It's been great to pop out the front door and pick lettuce,  tomatoes and fresh herbs. Now I know what I'm doing, I want to expand my horizons and grow different varieties of veggies.

Also, I want to purchase more cruelty free products. Whitesnake and I started buying free range eggs last year instead of caged hens eggs. They are more expensive but taste so much better. We'll continue with this and buy more free range food when we can.

Last month, after watching the beagle freedom project on utube,  I did some research on products that are tested on animals. I went through our cupboards and was shocked by the amount of products we had purchased that are tested on animals. Since then, I've been keeping an eye out for products that are not tested on animals. I'll continue to do this and replace as many brands as I can with cruelty free products. I'd like to do more but I guess every little we can do helps.

That reminds me of something which happened the other day. One of my facebook friends was having a go at us meat eaters, saying if we really loved animals, we wouldn't eat meat. I don't think I'd ever give up eating meat because I enjoy it so much but I don't see how that makes me hate animals. I know my friend wears makeup, takes medicine, cleans her house, washes her hair with products that are tested on animals. Just because someone doesn't eat meat, doesn't mean they love animals more than I do.  I love animals too, I just try to help them when I can, in different ways.  And, I don't have anything against people who don't eat animal products, in fact my sister is vegan and I admire her determination very much but don't preach to me about how much better you are than me just because you don't eat meat. Maybe if we all did our bit to help instead of blaming others, we could help the animals even more.

Righto, I feel much better for getting that off my chest. What are your resolutions for this year? Can you recommend any cruelty free products to me? I'm finding it especially hard to find hair care products that don't cost a fortune.  Every time I wash my hair I think of those poor bunnies having shampoo put in their eyes.

See you tomorrow

Keeping Up With KB - Christmas Day

Hi all,

Hope you had a wonderful Christmas because we certainly did.

Whitesnake, Coco and I spent the morning together opening pressies, pottering around and watching the top 400 awesome hits of the eighties.

The music reminded me of  happy times but some clips brought back memories of a couple of bad perms I had, which I'd rather forget.

We headed over to my parents' house for a late lunch. I was really pleased that the food was reasonably healthy and I didn't feel like I'd overindulged. It was great to catch up with my sis and her fella. We  don't see them enough and are going to make more of an effort to catch up in the future.

Whitesnake and I spent the evening having a few drinks while we watched, A Christmas Carol (my favourite Christmas movie). All in all, a lovely day.

Hope you all had a lovely Christmas.

Keeping Up With KB

I haven't written a Keeping Up With KB for ages. I guess there just hasn't been much to say recently.

Dad is doing really well and healing nicely. Whitesnake will be starting a new role at work soon. I'm really pleased as the hours are much more suitable for us...no more finishing at midnight! It's Whitesnake's Birthday later in the week, we're going out tomorrow to celebrate. I'll take some pics to show you. The weather is heating up so I gave Coco a hair cut yesterday.

Righto, I think that's me all caught up.

Hope you are well.

Keeping Up With KB

I've been overdue for a hair cut for soooooo long. Dropped Whitesnake off at an appointment yesterday and decided to pop into the local hairdresser to see if she could fit me in. I'm so glad I did, I think she did an excellent job.

When I left the hairdressers, it was windy and raining so I rushed to the car with my head down and popped in my key. It wouldn't budge and I was gettting very wet and frustrated. I looked into the car and realised it wasn't mine and ran quickly to my car which was parked a few spaces away. Thank goodness the other car didn't have an alarm. Such a blonde moment.

That's all from me today. Whitesnake has the day off so we are going to have a relaxing day together.

See you tomorrow

Friday Feel Good

Here's my contribution to Friday Feel Good, which is hosted by my wonderful man - Whitesnake. Each Friday we will post something that gives us that feel good feeling. Pay Whitesnake a visit if you'd like to join in the fun.

Everybody say awwwwwwww.

Keeping Up With KB

All is well. It's raining (as usual), having a relaxing day at home, looking forward to picking Whitesnake up from work.

Recently, it was suggested to me that cutting back on caffeine would reduce my anxiety. It's been two months since I've had a regular coffee (still driniking decaf which has a little caffeine). It wasn't hard for me to give up but the headache I got at the time was the worst I've ever had. Feel great now and have noticed a huge reduction in anxiety. I intend to stick to it.

I mentioned yesterday that Whitesnake made some yummy pizzas. His recipe is posted on our joint blog...Whitesnake's Simply Delish Pizza.

Righto, that's me all caught up for the day.

Have a great weekend,

Keeping Up With KB

It's a dark and rainy day outside, a perfect day to stay inside with my babe. We're having a relaxing day catching up with our blogging and watching TV.

Coco usually gets depressed when she can't go outside but she's quite happy today because she has a new chew toy to play with.

Whitesnake is happy because he is home with us and he has beer.

Since I've know Whitesnake, he's had several shift changes. For a while he was on earlys, he's been on a combination of earlys and nights, followed by early afternoon shifts. I felt like I was just getting used to this latest shift and now it's been changed again. I think I'm going to like these new shifts better but it still takes a bit of adjustment. Feel like I don't know if I'm coming or going this week and no idea what day it is half the time. One great advantage is he has an extra day at home during the week and we've been able to spend more quality time together rather than just plonking ourselves infront of the TV after work and vegging out.

He's been doing more cooking this week too. We had yummy home made pizzas last night and they were delish. We'll be sharing the recipe on our joint blog for Simply Delish on Saturday.

Our recipe on our joint blog today is...Cabbage Raita

Really looking forward to the weekend. It's my Dad's birthday and Whitesnake and I will be cooking up some of his favourite Chinese food.

Righto, that's all from me for today. Off to watch The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (Widescreen Edition) with Whitesnake.

See you tomorrow for Friday Feel Good.

Keeping Up With KB

Feeling a bit down in the dumps :( Whitensnake has been having a few troubles which I don't want to go into here. We are both remaining as positive as we can be but at the moment I have the attitude ...why do bad things happen to good people? Sometimes I think maybe the bad things I've done in my life are coming back to haunt me. Anyway, now I've had my little moan, I'll dust myself off and get back up and remember that this too shall pass. What do you do when life starts to wear you down?

Righto, now I've got that out of the way, I'll end on a positive note. Our dear friend, Jay came to stay with us for most of the weekend. We ate too much, Whitesnake and I drank enough to make up for Jay not drinking and we had a relaxing time. Loved it!

Keeping Up With KB

A strange thing happened last night. Whitesnake and I left the house for about 20 mins. When we returned, there was a smashed egg on our deck. Our house is tucked away so there are only a couple of places it could have been thrown from. I don't have a problem with any of my neighbours (as far as I know). The only thing I can think of is that Coco was barking and someone threw the egg to shut her up. She's usually pretty good though and only barks when we leave and then quiets down. Maybe, it was just kids playing around but it's still a little unnerving. Was it one of you lot? Hehe!

Keeping Up With KB

Whitesnake had to take a day off work, travel all the way into Auckland City, hang around for ages, only to be told that the defendant's interpreter didn't turn up so he'll have to come back and do it all again in a few months. Arrggggggggggggg!

The weather has been crazy recently and we had a tornado rip through the North Shore of Auckland recently. One person died and many were injured. Tornadoes aren't common in NZ and with the recent earthquakes in Christchurch, it makes me wonder what on earth is going on with the weather these days.

This is sounding like a depressing post so I'm trying to think of something positive to end with. I know, Whitesnake is the best and I love him to pieces. Speaking of which, he just called me to ask me to pick him up from the railway station and then we're going to treat ourselves to a yummy lunch . That sounds heavenly!

See you later

Keeping Up With KB and Weekend Walkabout

Keeping Up With KB

Do you remember how I said I'd had enough of hearing about The Royal Wedding? Well, I spent Saturday afternoon watching the replay and I enjoyed every minute, I even shed a few tears.

Just when I felt I was getting relaxed and all was well with the world, a couple of crappy things have turned up on the agenda for this week. Arrggggg, Whitesnake is attending to one of the crappy things as we speak but we have to head to court later in the week in relation to a previous matter. Bloody criminals, why can't they behave themselves for five minutes? Not only do we have to go to court but we have to go into the city this time. Rush hour traffic, expensive parking and no idea how long we will have to hang around. Double arrggggggggggg! Righto, that's my rant over. I'll leave you with our Walkabout pics...

Welcome to Weekend Walkabout, a place to share and explore the different corners of our world.

Yesterday, we visited Eastern Beach...it was sooooo windy. Followed by a drink and a pizza at the pub. I see a pattern here...our Walkabouts usually end with a visit to the pub:)

Walkabout is a phrase which means to walk around and explore with no specific destination in mind. Have you been walkabout anywhere interesting this week? If so, post your story or pictures to your blog, leave a comment here and a link to your post on our Linky and Whitesnake or KB will come take a look. Don't forget to put a link to Weekend Walkabout so others can find us and join in the fun.
