THE GOOD, THE BAD AND THE RUGBY

I’ve been too busy to write so here’s a quick summary of what I’ve been up to this week:

THE GOOD

My Steve celebrated his 50th birthday.

Our landlord and his wife cooked a delicious Korean BBQ lunch, many beers were sunk and a good time was had by all.

We found a lovely new place to live which isn’t far from work, is close to my parents and the best part…has a fully fenced section for Coco to run around in. We’ll be moving in before Christmas. Woohoo!

We’ve been furniture shopping today. All we need now is a fridge and a few other bits and pieces and we’ll be sweet.

I've started reading again...yay!

23 The Gunslinger - Stephen King

THE BAD

I received my first speeding fine…bugga!

I will need to attend the small claims court re car insurance claim as the driver who crashed into me has decided I was the one who went through a red light. Apparently, his insurance company can’t decide if it was him or a woman who was driving and my insurance company said they would be surprised if he shows up at the hearing so I’m not too worried. It’s more of a nuisance really as I have enough going on with our move and Christmas coming.

Steve was assaulted at work . He was punched in the head…TWICE so I took him to the Accident and Emergency room. Other than being swollen and a little shaken up, he’ll be fine.

THE RUGBY

All Blacks gave the French rugby team a hiding…nuff said.

I’ll update after we’ve moved.

THE STORY SO FAR

As you know, Hubby and I have parted ways. It had been on the cards for a while and it was my decision to leave. I won’t go into the details as that is between Hubby and I. We had some wonderful years together but it was time for me to move on. I’ll leave it at that.

Leaving has been the hardest thing I have ever done but I am happy with my decision. I’ve been doing what has been ‘expected’ of me for many years and now I feel it is time to stop putting everyone else’s wishes first and find me again. Sounds so cliche but it’s the truth.

I knew friends and family would be shocked and confused when I left. It’s true that at times like this, you really find out who your true friends are. Which reminds me, a big thank you to all you wonderful bloggers who have sent me kind wishes and encouragement. There are few people outside of blog land who have stuck by me.I have found there is a special person out there for me and I would have thought if they truly loved and cared for me, they would want me to be happy. My step-daughters aren’t even talking to me, which is devastating but I can understand why they are angry. Hopefully, they will come around but if not, who am I to tell them what to think.

Anyway, enough of that, I was writing to tell you guys what I have been up to. Every day there has been a different challenge to overcome and I will admit it is hard but I feel really happy. It’s hard to explain, I feel a wave of calmness and love washing over me. My anxiety has become almost non-existent (amazing considering what a strung out mess I had become).

So, I moved out of my huge house and started renting a small room on a weekly basis. It wasn’t long until my best friend moved in as well (you probably know him already as Steve/Whitesnake). We are still here and feeling quite at home. The landlord is adorable and looks after us well, I think he wants us to stay forever but this place is hardly big enough to swing a cat (lucky we don’t have one). We do have Coco to consider though. Our landlord (Mr. Lee) said she could stay here on a trial basis. Unfortunately, my dog appears to be racist and barks and growls at him. He didn’t ask her to leave but I didn’t think it was a good idea to have her growling at him all the time. She has moved back home with hubby for the time being and I visit her often. We have been searching for a new place to live but it’s hard to find a landlord who will agree to have a dog live on their property. Besides, I think I will be scarred for life if I don’t escape from this wallpaper soon.

Anyway, all is well with me but I have limited Internet time here. I miss you guys and will catch up with your blogs as soon as I can. You know where to reach me in the meantime.

Oh, I almost forgot, look what happened to my baby car.

Some bastard ran through a red light and hit me. Luckily, I was travelling slowly (my light had just turned green), or someone could have been hurt. The other guy wouldn’t even give me his insurance details and I had to fill out a Police Report the next day. My insurance company has finally found him and he says I am the one who went through a red light. What a wanker!!!!!!!!!! I had a witness in the car with me and since I was the one, who followed the correct procedures, looks like he hasn’t got a leg to stand on but it still makes me angry. In 21 years of driving, I’ve never had an accident or even a parking fine. Least I have my car fixed and nobody was hurt…that’s the important thing.

A SINGING, DANCING SNAKE

It's almost time for Whitesnake to toddle off back to Australia. I've been lucky enough to catch up with him a few times while he's been in NZ. He's exactly as I imagined and has had me in stitches with his stories and jokes.

He came over to my place for dinner last week. He was staying in a motel about 15 mins from my place so I drove over there to pick him up. We had a great night. My dog usually barks when visitors arrive, I was surprised when she greeted Steve like he was one of her best buddies.

NOW YOU SEE IT

NOW YOU DON'T

Our friend Laurie cooked a Seafood Gumbo - yum, yum. I wasn't able to drink much as I had to drive Steve back to his motel later so I settled in and watched the boys have a few too many. They were doing fine until hubby brought out the shot glasses.

Steve seemed to be having a great old time until he fell asleep in the car. When we arrived at the motel, he opened his car door and informed me he wasn't feeling very well. After fertilizing the bushes with his dinner, I managed to get him up two flights of stairs and into his bathroom. Being sick must have done him the world of good because he told me he was fine the next day. The same can't be said for the other two blokes.

THIS IS WHAT I CAME HOME TO

When hubby is away, I often have dinner at Mum and Dad's place. There's a bit of a standng joke between Steve and I because whenever I visit my parents on a Friday they say we may as well have fish and chips. Mum assures me they only eat fish and chips when I come over. Anyway, when I told Mum that Steve was visiting, she asked me to invite him for dinner and of course, Steve thought it would amusing to visit on a Friday. Yes, we had fish and chips.

Steve arrived and kinda took over the place (which is his way) much to the amusement of my mother. He came bearing flowers, wine, beers and made a yummy salad. We had a few laughs and he fitted in well. I think my Mum wanted to keep him.

If you ever have the chance to catch up with Whitesnake...don't pass it up, he's a great guy. I'm gonna miss ya buddy.

UNEXPECTED VISITORS

I've been a bit slack on the blogging front but I've had a good reason, honest!

One night last week, at around eleven in the evening while I was in the shower (don't get too excited...it's not a naughty story), my little dog began barking furiously. Hubby was away but I wasn't too concerned as she often barks at cats in this way. I continued showering, next minute there was a pounding at my bathroom door and a man's voice said, "It's OK Karen, it's only me." After I had recovered from my fright, I dressed and discovered it was my friend Laurie.

He had called earlier and left a message on the answering machine, asking if he could come and stay with us. Unfortunately, when I had played back the message, I had no idea what he was mumbling about and decided I would call him the next day. So, he came over at ELEVEN o'clock, knocked on the door and when nobody answered, BROKE into my house, hmmmmmmmmm. I don't know what I was more upset about, the fact that he let himself into my house or the fact that somebody else could have broken in so easily.

Anyway, we had a few drinks and I said it was OK for him to stay a while. Didn't have much choice really. The next day he fixed my door, cooked dinner and watched a couple of episodes of Dr Who with me so I guess I can forgive him. He finally toddled off to his own place later on in the week.

In other news, I've recently discovered one of my favourite bloggers is visiting my home town. Woohoo! Steve (Whitesnake) tells me he's coming over for a quiet time but hubby and I have other ideas. Me thinks a few beers and wines may have to be sunk. Be afraid Mr Snake, BE VERY AFRAID! I'm really looking forward to catching up with him and finding out if he's as mad as I think he is. I'll see if I can take some pics to share with you.

Later gators.
x

P.S. If there are any questions you would like me to ask him or if there's anything you want me to find out about him... let me know and I'll do my best *giggles*

BLODNE

Dear Dickie has been giving me grief on his blog and suggesting I dye my hair. All over some perfectly innocent comment I made earlier *polishes halo*. As for the blonde jokes Dickie...I've heard them all. Hubby reckons that between my step-daughter and I, he has enough material to write a book on the subject.

I'm sure there is no need for me to point out my blonde moments. All you have to do is read my blog, I'm sure I slip up on here on a regular basis. Actually, I know I do cause I have the grammar police, spelling police, the retired police and Steve taking great pleasure in informing me when I do so. Sorry about that Steve, I didn't know which category, "Ya blonde or what!", would fall into. Taking the piss of blondes police?

Some of hubby's favourites from me are:

KB - It must have rained hard last night.

HUBBY - Why?

KB - There's too much river in the river.

Hubby - What's the weather like in NZ?

KB - There isn't any

Hubby - What do you mean?

KB - There isn't any weather at night silly

Sometimes I wonder if I come from another planet to be honest.

Here are a few recent examples of convos I've had with my youngest step-daughter.

H - Wow, those fruit are so big

KB - Yeah, I bought them at the big fruit shop... (dripping with sarcasm)

H - Cool, where's that then?

Oh dear!

We have one of those 3D pictures which were popular years ago up on a wall. H stared at it for a while.

H - You've had that pic for so long. Does it still look the same?

KB - Laughs ass off

We attended a Riobbie Williams concert a few years back (don't hold it against me) Duran Duran were the support act and of course Hayley had never heard of them. H has a beautiful singing voice and decided to sing along to Girls On Film. She belted out - Girls On Pills at the top of her voice, LMAO!

Aww bless her. Sometimes it surprises me she isn't my own flesh and blood. Here's a pic of her car license plate. I think it speaks for itself.

Love ya girl

I wonder what ever happened to Robbie?

AWARDS TIME

I don't usually do the awards thing but...

I've had a lot of support this week from the people here who know me best. I won't mention names because you know who you are. The dear souls who have put their problems aside to listen to me ramble on for hours, have sent me emails and funnies and one sweetheart who sang to me on a voice clip. I'm truly thankful to you all.

I've been lucky enough to make a couple of new friends this week too. I've spent hours chatting on the phone with WHITESNAKE
and occasionally with his better half. I've loved every minute of it and haven't laughed so much in ages. Steve, would have us believe he likes to bite but he's kind, generous, caring, FUNNY and wise (probably cause he's so old...lmao), did I mention FUNNY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Love you guys
