The Longest Night

Each Friday I write a short story in exactly 55 words. If you'd like to join in the fun and games, write your story, visit G-Man and let him know you've posted.

Sandra tossed and turned, their bed felt enormous.

Mark sat upright in the dark. He was exhausted but the discomfort from the tubes and the constant beeping from machines keeps him awake. Their thoughts were with each other. Forty years of marriage, this their first night apart. It was the longest night of their lives.

My Dad had to spend the night in the hospital earlier in the week. I knew he was going to be OK but I tossed and turned all night worrying about how my parents were coping with being separated. They are practically joined at the hip. Anyway, we all made it through the night and Dad is recovering nicely.

Have a great weekend all and don't forget to tell the people you care about how much you love them.

Taxi For KB and Whitesnake

Righto, so now I know where I am health wise and my next step is cutting back on alcohol. This is going to be the hardest step for me which is why I wanted to put it early on the health list.  I was going to start this yesterday until I was invited to dinner at my parents place AND our good friend G offered to drive us there and back. This was the first time in a year, I wasn't the designated driver ('cause Whitesnake doesn't drive). I decided to go with the flow (OMG that is so unlike me) and have a few drinks with my family. We had a wonderful time and I still made many healthy choices throuout the day. I'm feeling good and ready for my next healthy step.

Here are some of the pics...

Have a great day/night and I'll see you tomorrow for Day 2 of my health challenge.

Happy Bithday Dad

Quote of the day

I am the master of my fate; I am the captain of my soul.
Invictus by William Ernest Henley

Happy Birthday Dad

Today is my Dad's Birthday. Steve and I invited my parents over for dinner a couple of days ago. We cooked a yummy dinner of roast beef, veggies, roast spuds, Yorkshire Pudding and gravy. Actually, Steve did most of the cooking and I helped. Wish I'd taken a pic because it looked and tasted delicious.

A good time was had by all and Dad loved his card and  Avatar DVD.

Feeling good today. Enjoyed a wonderful few days off with Steve.  We decided Dad wouldn't mind if we watched his Birthday pressie before we gave it to him. I really enjoyed the movie but I didn't think it was as great as I'd been led to believe.

We spent the rest of our time preparing for Mum and Dad's visit. We also caught up on a few of the cooking shows we enjoy watching and had a yummy lunch at our favourite Japanese restaurant (click here to read KB1's review). All in all, a busy but fun few days off.

Thanks to everyone who voted in my poll. I'm happy we all enjoy the same content and I'll continue on as normal.

Today I'm grateful for...the love of my family.
