Happy Birthday Coco

Coco has had a big week. Hubby and I took her to the vet on Monday. She stayed there for the day to have some lumps checked out and to have her teeth cleaned. The lumps are benign and her teeth are so white now that she could be a movie star J

Coco turned eleven years young on Friday. It’s hard to believe that’s she’s eleven, it seems like she was a puppy just yesterday.

That’s all from me today. Have a great weekend.

Happy Bithday Dad

Quote of the day

I am the master of my fate; I am the captain of my soul.
Invictus by William Ernest Henley

Happy Birthday Dad

Today is my Dad's Birthday. Steve and I invited my parents over for dinner a couple of days ago. We cooked a yummy dinner of roast beef, veggies, roast spuds, Yorkshire Pudding and gravy. Actually, Steve did most of the cooking and I helped. Wish I'd taken a pic because it looked and tasted delicious.

A good time was had by all and Dad loved his card and  Avatar DVD.

KB's World

Feeling good today. Enjoyed a wonderful few days off with Steve.  We decided Dad wouldn't mind if we watched his Birthday pressie before we gave it to him. I really enjoyed the movie but I didn't think it was as great as I'd been led to believe.

We spent the rest of our time preparing for Mum and Dad's visit. We also caught up on a few of the cooking shows we enjoy watching and had a yummy lunch at our favourite Japanese restaurant (click here to read KB1's review). All in all, a busy but fun few days off.

Thanks to everyone who voted in my poll. I'm happy we all enjoy the same content and I'll continue on as normal.

Today I'm grateful for...the love of my family.

BIRTHDAY UPDATE AND SCENIC SUNDAY

SCENIC SUNDAY - KAITERITERI , NEW ZEALAND

Hubby dragged me up the hill, moaning and complaining (as always) but I'm glad I made it to the top.

There's a link to Scenic Sunday on my sidebar. Feel free to visit.

BIRTHDAY UPDATE

I had a quiet birthday this year as hubby was on his travels. I enjoyed a yummy dinner with my parents, followed by a quiet night in with a good book and a bottle of read.

Hubby is home safe and sound so we are celebrating tonight instead. I received some cool pressies - a new mobile phone and Singstar Queen were my favourites.

That's enough from me for today. There's a bottle of expensive red calling my name.

Have a wonderful day/night.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, G

My eldest step-daughter turned 22 last week, woohoo, party time.

DON'T YOU JUST LOVE IT WHEN FAMILY TURN UP EARLY AND YOU CAN SET THEM TO WORK

ME IN MY PINNY - LET THE COOKING BEGIN.

Hubby and I spent most of the day cooking and cleaning up after people. I don't mind being in the kitchen though, it's the focal point of the house and I can see and hear everything that's going on.

HELLO STRANGER...LONG TIME NO SEE

THE BEST BEHAVED DOG IN THE WORLD - SAM. PUTS MY MISBEHAVED DAWG TO SHAME.

BIRTHDAY GIRL AND HER FELLA

Watch where you are putting those hands Mr.

IT WAS ALL A BIT MUCH FOR SOME

MY GIRL LOOKS CUTE WITH HER NEW HAIRCUT

ME THINKS THIS WAS G'S FAVOURITE PRESSIE. CAN YOU GUESS WHAT THEY ARE DOING?

We decide to put our old furniture to use and set it up in the garden for the kids to hang out on.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY G. LOVE YOU HEAPS!

Once the cake was served, I could finally let my hair down and have some fun.I had been drinking non-alcoholic drinks up until this stage. Piny thrown off and down the hatch with the tequila. It didn't take me long to catch up and make a fool of myself on the guitar hero and the sing star. Hence the lack of further photos.

Me thinks a great time was had by all.

I'M BACK

Hi all,

I'm back and totally relaxed after my trip away. Let's see if I can remember what I've been up to...

A most enjoyable evening out with our good friends Penny and Andrew. Thai food, good company and a table full of blind people and their doggies next to us.

Spent the next evening at hubby's brother's place. Had a fantastic time - as always. Dear I and L, I'm not writing this because I know you sometimes read my blog, I'm writing it because I always have the best time at your place. We drank too much, ate a delicious duck and played Buzz.

I found it interesting that my brother-in-law said he learned more from reading my blog than he previously knew about me. Hmmm, I thought he knew me pretty well already. Maybe it's because I find it easier to write down how I am feeling than talk face to face with people. When I write here, it's straight from brain to laptop. It's easier to stay on topic and get inside my head when I can write without interruption. Who knows really.

We stayed overnight at their place because we always drink too much to drive home when we stay there, hehe. The following morning, our hosts cooked a birthday breakfast (hubby's birthday). We ate bacon, eggs, toast, tomatoes and black pudding. Yum!

We headed to my Mum's place next. They had returned from their holiday to Samoa that very morning and looked as brown as Maoris. Dad showed off his photos and hubby and mum exchanged gifts. My hubby, mum and grandad all share the same birthday.

Next stop was hubby's parents place, followed by more gifts.

We spent a lovely week at Miranda Holiday Park; reading, doing crosswords, eating, drinking, shopping and soaking in the pool. Unfortunately, I pulled a muscle in my neck and spent a couple of days in quite a lot of pain but the red wine medicine kept me happy until the pain subsided.

That's all from me folks. Time to catch up on what you boys and girls have been up to.

Bye for now

SOME USELESS INFORMATION I LEARNED WHILE I WAS AWAY

Just 20 seconds worth of fuel remained when Apollo 11's lunar module landed on the moon.

The Mona Lisa has no eyebrows.

Elephants are the only animals that cannot jump.

Bet you're glad you visited me today, hehe!

BUSY,BUSY,BUSY!

It's been a busy weekend over here at blonde central. Seems every man and his dog wants to catch up with us and we've a few birthdays coming up too. Will be whisking hubby away for a few days to celebrate his birthday. We'll be busy soaking in the pool, feel free to stop by if you're in the neighbourhood.

Be good - if you must but I'd prefer it if you'd misbehave so you have some stories to tell me when I return.

Later gators

xxxx

P.S. Don't forget to vote for the poll over on the sidebar, there's a post all about it below this one. I'm secretly hoping I will ba able to write about Ciara as she thought it would be hilarious to vote for the - this is bollocks option. LMAO, you go girl! Not very good at keeping secrets after all am I. Y'all know which phrase comes next...BE AFRAID, BE VERY AFRAID.

Love you all (cept Norman but only 'cause he says I'm not allowed to)

LIFE BEGINS AT FORTY?

Did you know Kylie and I have something in common? We both turned forty recently.

In an article this morning she states, " Turning forty is a liberating experience".

There I was thinking, "I totally agree. Why do people dread turning 40? I'm feeling great and I'm enjoying every minute of it so far".

I trot off to to my letter box. Mail from my insurance company awaits...

"As Karen has reached the age of 40 years (the next premium age band), your fortnightly premium will change...."

Bugga! What does this mean? I've more chance of becoming ill after I turn forty? Well thanks for not only putting a downer on my birthday but a bigger hole in my bank account too.

Better prepare to put those gold, hot pants in storage Kylie, bad news is on the way.

Love you nutters,

KB

P.S. If any of you say Kylie is your favourite blonde rather than me...I WILL kill you.

HOLIDAY TIME, ROTORUA

Hubby, Coco and I were lucky enough to spend a week in Rotorua recently. It's one of my favourite places in New Zealand, (in fact, in the whole world).

Rotorua, is an active volcanic zone where one can experience geothermal earth forces, spa rejuvenation, thrill and adventure, or any of the other natural assets such as 16 lakes, some of the worlds best mountain bike trails, fantastic trout fishing and a myriad of forest walking tracks. Well, that's what the brochure says anyway.

I like to visit because of the walking tracks, (hubby drags me up large mountains, under duress, but I actually kinda of enjoy it...sshhh, don't tell him), the hot spas and the smell of the place. Most people say Rotorua smells of rotten eggs but for some reason, I love it.

COCO'S FAVOURITE PLACE TO RUN AROUND

Coco loves to swim. She jumped in this rather sulphurous lake, jumped out, shook herself off and proceeded to bark at the water. Maybe she didn't like the smell but all was forgotten the next day when she jumped into it AGAIN! She spent the whole trip smelling like Rotorua.

My brother-in-law organised a surprise party for his wife and you know KB hates to miss a party. So, back to the car we go and head home for a couple of days.

KB'S FRUIT AND VEG? I had no idea.

Do ya think we like hugging?

THE BROS

NOT A PARTY WITHOUT SINGING.

Brother-in-law and I are very competitive when it comes to singing. We were up until 4am trying to out do each other, hehe!

Bed time for me. I will update more tomorrow.

Sleep tight, don't let the bed bugs bite.

FLASH 55 - HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME

My friend, MISSY, has been encouraging me to join the FLASH 55 club. Every Friday, we write a story with 55 words. It's a lot harder than it sounds actually. My first draft was 140 words, eek! This is my first 55 EVER, so please be gentle!

Childhood memories...
presents, cake, candles, pass the parcel,
hair ribbons, scraped knees.
Today, the cake remains, candles increase,
props assembled for more mature games.

Searching for the girl I used to be.
Is she hidden behind the lines on my face?
Put a smile back on your dial girl.
THE BEST IS YET TO COME!
