WHAT DOES YOUR TASTE IN MUSIC SAY ABOUT YOU?

TAKEN FROM

Blog no longer active

What was the first music album you ever bought or owned? Do you still listen to it or have you moved on?

The Jam - Dig The New Breed.

I owned a few records before this one but this was the first I bought with my own money. I would have been about 13 years old. Funny actually because I didn't even like The Jam much but... you guessed it... a boy I liked was really into them. Some things never change, hehe. I listened to it repeatedly so I could learn all the words and impress the boy. He still didn't realise I existed after all my hard work but all was not lost as I became a huge fan of the Jam's music.

I would love to listen to this album again but it's a vinyl and my record player hasn't been working for years. Oh man, does anyone even remember vinyl? God I feel old now *giggles*

  1. Ahh...the generic and ubiquitous "What it says about you" bollocks.

*Mr Crankypants* (who nevertheless has a valid point, because it is indeed, bollocks!).

  2. Funny you mention vinyl's, I just purchased a vinyl for my friend's birthday this week. She is mad about CHER and her famous "Turn Back Time song. I got it off of ebay for a crazy arsed cheap price!!
I always loved playing music, and doing the girly things when I was growing up.
My Uncle had the full collection of names like The Beetles, The stones, Tina Turner, David Bowie, Human League etc..and the best thing with Vinyls was the covers, reading the covers and also, sometimes, the image of the artist was actually ON the vinyl itself, especially David Bowie and Queen and some of the Elton John ones my Uncle had.

  8. The first album I remenber buying was Sgt Pepper. I actually queued to buy it at HMV in Oxford Street the day it was released. It's a mono version and worth quite a lot now, so I no longer playit. I do however play my cd version constantly. As for the 'about you' thing, I was told I am 'intelectual to the point of being cerebral'! I am not intelectual enough to know what cerebral means and having looked it up, I'm not sure if that is a flattering comment or not!

  9. Keith - I miss HMV, used to spend my Saturdays in there when I was a kid.

Maybe we could ask Mutters what cerebal means, he seems to be full of it...I mean full of interestig words this evening.

In my family (yes this is true) the first album you receive (always from an older sibling) is AC/DC Highway to Hell! Yes it was my first...when I was I believe 8 or 9. It started with my older brothers (they were pretty damn old when they started this) and has trickled down to my kids and theirs.
