The prompt this week is - ADULT
When I was a wee girl, all I wanted to be was a grown up. All that freedom they had, being able to say and do as they pleased, make the rules, stay up late, watch TV whenever they wanted, play music really loud, go to parties, stay out all night, didn't have to eat their veggies, etc, etc.
Now I am an ADULT I can say and do as I please but have to deal with the consequences. I have to follow rules the same as everyone else. If I watch TV for too long my eyes get tired. I have to eat my veggies to keep me regular. When I play music really loud I wonder what the neighbours think. If I go to too many parties and stay out all night, it takes me a week to recover.
Man, I wish I was a kid again!
But seriously folks. I think finding a balance between being a sensible adult without losing the child within is key to remaining happy and healthy.
Have a great weekend everyone
Hubby's SS is the post below.
You are absolutely right!
ReplyDeleteThat makes a change. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteOne word in post sums it up - 'consequences'...!
ReplyDeleteStan - Ah yes.
ReplyDeletetry activia...it's tastier than veggies!
ReplyDeletenice take on the prompt.
It's funny. I remember the first time I went grocery shopping with my new husband. We were 22. It suddenly hit us that we could buy anything we wanted to eat and not stick with the brands and foods we had always eaten. It was a rush of excitement. Of course we soon settled in with the same boring old food.
ReplyDeleteI like your closing thought. My post is actually about a similar topic--the balance of good and bad that comes with being younger.
ReplyDeletequin - Don't get me wrong...I don't mind the veggies.
ReplyDeleteLilibeth - Yeah, it's just the idea of being able to buy whatever you like isn't it!
WB - I'll come visit you soon.
Yeah those were the days my friend.
ReplyDeletei agree with your last sentence. adults are just big kids, anyway :P
ReplyDeleteYou've hit the nail on the head..so true finding the balance between the two is so important. Infact those lucky one who find the balance are the ones who r happy most of the times.
ReplyDeleteKid life is the best time of a human being...no tension..just enjoyment, sometimes little knowledge makes life beautiful :)!!
Floreta - The best of us are for sure.
ReplyDeleteNazish - Nicely said.
ReplyDeletewen it is over we wanna be that again :)
ReplyDeletehumans :)
Partly Adult, Largely Corrupt
Ah, the grass is always greener.
ReplyDeletelol, we may be old but we are still kids (at heart) :-)
ReplyDeleteThis is a very well done response to the prompt on but yours and your hubbys part. But I can remember the bad parts of childhood too. It wasn't all fun and games.Though there was lots of that.Adults tend to forget the other bits and romanticize childhood.
ReplyDeleteAnd the number one thing wrong with adults today? Not allowing the consumption of helium.
ReplyDeleteI make it a point to take my inner child out on a playdate at least once a week. Just me, my inner child, and some good old fashioned FUN without rules or silly adult inhibitions.
ReplyDeleteIt's very cathartic.
Great idea.
ReplyDeleteA good balance there. Definitely right.
ReplyDeleteThanks
ReplyDeleteseems like we always want something just a little different. balance is a great way to approach life but when you all off, fall to the child side. Life is more fun that way.
ReplyDeleteVery true.
