FLASH 55

Dad raised her as a normal kid, loved to rough and tumble but mother had other ideas...

'Be careful on that slide, you might fall off.'

'Get out of that tree, you'll hurt yourself.'

'The lift may break down, let's take the stairs.'

The world became a scary place. Is it any wonder she's afraid.

I wrote this one in my head while I was in the shower. It's where I do my best work. Only had to remove one word. Now, if only I could find a way to take my notebook and pencil in the shower and spend all day in there...I'd be able to finish my novel *giggles*

Flash Fiction - Each Friday, I compose a short story of 55 words - no more, no less. If you would like to join in the fun and games... post your story and report to the boss - If you're not interested in contributing a story, feel free to read the other entries. I'm sure any comments you have would be appreciated.
Happy reading and writing!

A TRAVELLING KIWI

I'd like to introduce you to my friend, Mr Kiwi.

He's going to accompany me on my future travels. Pics of where he's been so far are on his new blog.

Mr and Mrs Kiwi are hoping to start a family soon. I'll be looking for volunteers to adopt the babies and photograph them on their travels. My dear friend Missy has first dibs on the little Kiwis, any other takers?

P.S. My stalker has been fired and replaced by Missy. She'd found Kiwi's blog before the paint had dried, LOL.

MEME TIME

Tagged by: Nazish

It's harder than it looks! Use the first letter of your name to answer each of the following questions. They have to be real .... nothing made up! If the person before you had the same first initial, you must use different answers. You cannot use any word twice and you can't use your name for the boy/girl name question. Then you need to tag 4 people..So here goes my answers..

1. What is your name: Karen

2. A four Letter Word: Kept

3. A boy's Name: Kevin

4. A girl's Name: Katherine

5. An occupation: Kite maker

6. A colour: Key Lime

7. Something you wear: Knickers

8. A food: Kit kat bar

9. Something found in the bathroom: Kohl pencil

10. A place: Kenya

11. A reason for being late: kicked myself and fell over

12. Something you shout: KB, you're so blonde

13. A movie title: King Kong

14. Something you drink: Kava

15. A musical group: Kagagoogoo

16. An animal: Kangaroo

17. A street name: King St

18. A type of car: Kawasaki

19. Something scary: Karaoke

20. Ice cream flavour: Kiwi fruit

I won't tag anyone but feel free to do your own version.

WAITANGI, NEW ZEALAND

Captain William Hobson arrived in the Bay of Islands in 1840 to make a treaty with the Maori chiefs on behalf of the British Government.

On February 6th 1840, 42 chiefs signed the Treaty in front of the Residency of Waitangi. Copies of the Treaty were carried around the country and by September, over 500 chiefs had signed it.

The Treaty is an agreement between two peoples to live and work together in one nation. However, debate still continues to this day in NZ over the Treaty's interpretation.

MAORI WAKA (CANOE)

Made from three native trees, the canoe is 35 metres long and needs a minimum of 76 paddlers to handle it safely.

BAY OF ISLANDS, NEW ZEALAND

A few more pics from our stay in the Bay of Islands.

The town of Paihia is a short ferry ride from Russell. I, in my infinite wisdom, decided it would be nice to drive there via the scenic route. The trip should have taken us half an hour but we took a wrong turn. An hour and a half of windy road later and after several times yelling to hubby, 'pull over, I'm going to be sick,' we arrived in Paihia.

HARURU FALLS

While we were out and about, we saw a sign to Haruru Falls. As you know, hubby loves to take me on long walks on the pretence they are short walks. This time, I read for myself that the walk would take 90 mins each way. We decided to drive there instead and all I can say is...thank goodness for that. If I'd had to walk for an hour and half to see one of the smallest water falls I've ever seen in my life, I would not have been happy, LOL.

MANGINANGINA - Try saying that in a hurry!

Finally, a KB sized walk. The native trees here were amazing. I took many pics but unfortunately, they didn't do the trees justice.

MISSION HOUSE

We arrived at the house 10 mins before closing. Never mind, better luck next time.

We spent the follwing week in our caravan in Rotorua. Didn't take any pics as we had a quiet time there. Decided to go home when the frost arrived.

Righto, that's all my pics from Bay of Islands but I'm not done yet. Still have many from Wanaka to post.

FLASH 55

Internet buddies
Far and wide
Bring smiles to my face
Tears to my eyes

With me
What you see is what you get
No need to embelish
Like others I've met

Ego maniacs

Who knows what lurks
Behind those screens

Keep your distance
Stay away
Surrounding myself with friends
