Coco is exhausted after her long walk with her Dad this morning, (while I slept in).

Looking forward to a relaxing afternoon reading a book and listening to music on our back deck. This evening we are going to watch a couple of romantic DVDs. Perfect! What are you all doing for Valentine's Day?

Keeping Up With KB

It's a dark and rainy day outside, a perfect day to stay inside with my babe. We're having a relaxing day catching up with our blogging and watching TV.

Coco usually gets depressed when she can't go outside but she's quite happy today because she has a new chew toy to play with.

Whitesnake is happy because he is home with us and he has beer.

Since I've know Whitesnake, he's had several shift changes. For a while he was on earlys, he's been on a combination of earlys and nights, followed by early afternoon shifts. I felt like I was just getting used to this latest shift and now it's been changed again. I think I'm going to like these new shifts better but it still takes a bit of adjustment. Feel like I don't know if I'm coming or going this week and no idea what day it is half the time. One great advantage is he has an extra day at home during the week and we've been able to spend more quality time together rather than just plonking ourselves infront of the TV after work and vegging out.

He's been doing more cooking this week too. We had yummy home made pizzas last night and they were delish. We'll be sharing the recipe on our joint blog for Simply Delish on Saturday.

Our recipe on our joint blog today is...Cabbage Raita

Really looking forward to the weekend. It's my Dad's birthday and Whitesnake and I will be cooking up some of his favourite Chinese food.

Righto, that's all from me for today. Off to watch The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (Widescreen Edition) with Whitesnake.

See you tomorrow for Friday Feel Good.

What's In A Name?

I'm taking part in the 30 days about me challenge. Here you will learn some interesting and fun things about me.

Here's the 30 day challenge

day 19- nicknames you have and why you have them

This one is easy, my only nickname is my internet name. I'm crazy and I'm blonde but crazy blonde was already taken when I first needed a log in name. I changed the C to K and there you have it. It may interest you to know that when Whitesnake and I are married my initials will be KB. Meant to be or what?

See you tomorrow for more of Coco's Animal Antics.

Readers' Poll

Quote of the day

What you are today comes from your thoughts of yesterday and your present thoughts build your life of tomorrow. Your life is the creation of your mind.
- Buddha

Readers' Poll

I appear to have lost some of my regular readers...eek! I think it's because I usually do my best work when miserable, hence the lack of posts, hehe. I decided to do a little poll so you guys (all 3 of you) can tell me what you enjoy reading about the most. Maybe it will inspire me to write a bit more. The poll box is on the side bar under the pic of KB & Whitesnake.

KB's World

All is well with us. I've been catching up on a few fiddly projects I've been putting off. Feels good to be tackling them head on  rather than putting them off . The main issue I have is working the knots out of Coco's coat. She's very nervous around the clippers and her coat is getting more and more tangled. I've been sitting with her for a little time each day and slowly combing out the knots. We're making huge progress and she doesn't seem to mind it as much as she used to.

In other news, Steve has given up smoking and I'm so proud of him! I really must get off the computer and on with my day. I'll write more on that next time.

Have a great day/night.

Making Babies

I wrote this post earlier today, visited Sunday Scribblings to check the prompt for the week and it's BIRTH. Spooky! Guess my SS for this week is already done.

When I was a girl, all I wanted to do when I grew up, was get married and have a family. I met a man who already had 2 daughters and 1 step-daughter and he told me from the start, he didn't want any more children. I married him anyway, I believed he'd change his mind because I thought people who loved each other would want to have a family together. I know that's not always the case but I was young and that was truly what I believed at the time.

His children were very young, H was still in nappies. As time went on, I became very close to them and felt that even though I was not their biological mother, I did my part in raising them. My husband decided to get a vasectomy and even though I was sad, I felt I had raised his children as my own and therefore fulfilled my dream of being a mother.

Now I'm 42 years old, my marriage has ended and I've been told that the children I sacrificed having my own children for, no longer want me in their lives. The clock has started ticking. I hear it in the background of my mind every day...tick tock, tick, tock, tick, tock.

My new man has children of his own but he knows how much I wanted to have a child. I notice how I write 'wanted'. When I was married, I accepted the fact I wouldn't have children of my own but now I have the option. It's a huge decision. What if I decide I want to become pregnant but my body has other ideas? The older I get, the higher the risks of complications and miscarriage and the harder it is to conceive.

It's all very confusing. Some days I think, I am happy with my life and I am too old to have a child. Other days, having a child is all I think about. Am I being selfish considering having children at my age? Am I wanting to fill the void the girls have left behind? I just wish I had more time to figure it all out.

What are your thoughts on pregnancy for the over 40's? What age where you or your partner when you/they gave birth?

Right, that's my ramble for the day. It's pouring with rain outside so I intend to stay inside, read my book and forget about babies for a while.

Living With Whitesnake

Whitesnake  and I have enjoyed our couple of days off. My parents introduced us to a new restaurant called Oceans  a few weeks ago. We enjoyed the food, the atmosphere and location. Unfortunately, it was pouring down with rain so we couldn't really appreciate the scenery. The sun was shining on one of our days off so we decided to head back there and enjoy the view.

I headed to the hairdressers the next day. Spent two hours catching up on the goss from the hairdresser and being pampered. Came home to find the dinner prepared, the housework done and the washing on the line. Isn't my man wonderful! That gave me the afternoon to relax and start a new book - Song of Susannah (The Dark Tower, Book 6), I'm already 200 pages in,hehe.

Steve has ten days off starting from Monday, woohoo! I can hardly wait.
