Weekend Walkabout

Welcome to Weekend Walkabout, a place to share and explore the different corners of our world.  I went Walkabout at our local garden centre this weekend but forgot to take my camera with me. Here are the pics we took last time we were there.

We enjoyed a yummy lunch and a few drinks, decaf for me 'cause too much coffee makes me go round the bend.

Maybe it wasn't really decaf  'cause I look like I'm on my way round the bend.

We didn't buy any plants because they were quite expensive but there were a few names which made us giggle.

Me thinks Drunken Woman Lettuce would be very appropriate for this household.

Walkabout is a phrase which means to walk around and explore with no specific destination in mind. Have you been walkabout anywhere interesting this week? If so, post your story or pictures to your blog, leave a comment here and a link to your post on our Linky and Whitesnake or KB will come take a look. Don't forget to put a link to Weekend Walkabout so others can find us and join in the fun.

See you tomorrow

Keeping Up With KB

Holiday time is over for Whitesnake and I, time flies when you're having fun.  I missed half of it because I was sick with a cold but I'm feeling much better now. We had a few nice meals out, caught up with my parents, watched a few movies and had lots of sleep. It was really relaxing and fun.
Whitesnake celebrated his birthday with a few friends, ( I was in bed).

He went for a couple of interviews during his time off and I'm pleased to report, he starts a new job soon. I'm so proud of him.

Our veggies are growing really well. I'm so excited about this because I haven't been able to grow much in the past. I remember one time when I was younger, doing the weeding while my ex was at work, I thought I was doing great but apparently pulled out most of the flowers and left the weeds behind. Ex was not very happy and it put me off doing any more gardening. Seems like I do have a green thumb after all and I'm really enjoying looking after my babies and watching them grow.   You can read more and see more pics or our veggie garden here.

So, I'm going to spend today catching up on my internet stuff (never ending job). Tomorrow, it's back to working on 30 days to a happier, healthier me. Actually, I've been quite good while I've been on hols, haven't drowned in wine or pigged out too much.

Speaking of pigs, there is to be a new animal welfare code in NZ to stop pregnant sows being kept in crates. Yay! There's still much to be done regarding animal welfare and farming but this is a huge step in the right direction. I remember a while ago, signing a card (along with many Kiwis) and sending it to my MP and thinking, this is probably a waste of time, nobody listens to the people but something was actually done this time. Fantastic news!

P.S. Kiwis - don't forget to observe 2 mins silence at 2pm in remembrance of the Pike River miners.

Hope you are all well.

Keeping Up With KB

Things are going really well with me. I've had a little anxiety but it's been manageable. The level of anxiety comes down a little every day after I've had a big panic attack. As long as Whitesnake doesn't come up behind me and scare the life out of me by tickling me (as he often does), I should be OK.

Watched a couple of good DVDs the other day/night. One was Marley and Me , which I loved apart from the ending. I will apologise in advance in case you don't already know but the dog dies in the end. Why do people have to ruin a perfectly good story by killing off the dog in the end? I cried buckets and spent an hour telling a rather bewildered Coco that I loved her so much and I wanted her to live forever.

The next movie was about a girl who cooks her way through a Julia Child cook book and blogs about it. Hmm, cooking and blogging, why didn't I think of that?  I refer to the movie Julie and Julia which I really did enjoy but poor Whitesnake had to sit there while I continuously paused it and said, "I could have done that AND I would have been funnier." A life of cooking and blogging sounds like heaven to me.

In other news...our babies have grown to double the size. Don't worry, I haven't had some kind of alien birth, I'm referring to our baby fruit and veg. This is the first time I've attempted to grown anything and I'm so excited. I keep jumping out of my seat at the most inappropriate moments saying, "I must check on the babies." or " I must water the babies." I wonder what the neighbours must think?

I'm going to begin my 30 days to a happier, healthier me tomorrow. I've taken on board Whitesnake's advice and I'm not going to stress myself out if I can't do it in 30 days. Actually, I'm doing most of the steps already, I tend to be really healthy for a week and then decide I must reward myself by drinking a rather large bottle of wine or eating lots of chocolate and end up right back where I started. So I'm not going to move on to the next day until I feel comfortable that I have the first day sorted. I want to be more consistent about the whole healthy living thing. It'll probably take my 30 months rather than 30 days but if I can get the end result I 'm after, I don't care if it takes me a life time.

Righto, that's me all caught up. Time to organise Whitesnake's dinner and check on the babies again.

Bye for now

Keeping Up With KB

Whitesnake and I have enjoyed a few days off together. We had a busy and fun time.

If you've been paying attention over the past few days, you'll know we planted our first veggies. The lettuce is the star so far...can't wait to tuck into that.

Our Simply Delish recipe this week was for Tomato Salad and we decided to video it. It was so much fun. Whitesnake is a natural performer and I thought I did an excellent job with the video camera. Sir Peter Jackson, if you need any help filming The Hobbit, I'm available.

The weather is improving all the time and we've took advantage of a fine day and headed to a local beach.
More Eastern Beach pics over on our joint blog.

Halloween night was a bit of a disappointment. I bought a bag of lollies and waited for the children, it's hard to see our house from the road so we didn't get any visitors. I'm still eating the lollies...yum!

I think that's me all updated. Going to head our shortly to buy some fireworks. I'm not usually a big fan of fireworks but this will be the first time Whitesnake and I will have the opportunity to set some off together, so looking forward to it. Surprisingly, Coco LOVES fireworks night.

I'll probably be back later on today.
See you then.
