Coco's Animal Antics

Hi all,

My post for today is on our joint blog...Coco's Animal Antics.

We're doing OK. Whitesnake's family have headed off back home. Still getting over the shock of what has been going on in Christchurch.

See you tomorrow for a proper update.

Weekend Walkabout - Cockle Bay

Welcome to Weekend Walkabout, a place to share and explore the different corners of our world.

This week we have some pics from our visit to the beach.

Walkabout is a phrase we use in NZ, which means to walk around and explore with no specific destination in mind. Have you been walkabout anywhere interesting this week? If so, post your story or pictures to your blog, leave a comment here and a link to your post on our Linky and Whitesnake or KB will come take a look. Don't forget to put a link to Weekend Walkabout so others can find us and join in the fun.

Christchurch Quake

Thank you for all your thoughts and prayers for the people of Christchurch. Whitesnake and I are safe (the quake hapened far from where we live). Thankfully, we have had news that Whitesnake's family who are visiting from Austrailia are safe and on their way home to us. My thoughts and prayers go out to all who have been affected by this tragedy.

Take care of each other

Weekend Walkabout - O'Hagans, Highland Park

Welcome to Weekend Walkabout, a place to share and explore the different corners of our world.

Our favourite Japanese restaurant doesn't have air conditioning and last time we visited, it was uncomfortably hot. Time to find a new favourite place for the Summer. So, Walkabout this week is a combination of our last two visits to our new favourite place for lunch. Relaxing atmosphere, good food and AIR CONDITIONING!!

Billy Straight by Jonathan Kellerman

One of my goals this year is to read more books. You can read my reviews and find out where you can purchase the books I've read this year here...KB's Bookshelf.

My car full of books..it's a long story

It took me a couple of chapters before I realised I'd read this one before. I kept reading though because I couldn't remember what happened in the end. Another blonde moment. Anyway, I'm glad I did because I enjoyed just as much the second time.

A young boy witnesses a murder, but who will find him first...the cops or the killer? It's another fast-paced thriller from Kellerman, with some very undesirable characters and an extremely believable heroine. Didn't enjoy it as much as his books from the Delaware series but still definitely worth a read

Are you reading anything interesting besides my blog?

In other news...all is well here, it's really hot outside again. Whitesnake and I have just been on a trip to our District Court, last time we went it was quite scary but this time not so much. The lady we dealt with was lovely and very efficient. Also, her office had aircon which actually worked. I could have stayed in there all day. Righto, I'm outta here. Be good to each other.

See you tomorrow for Simply Delish...yikes, I better go find a recipe quick.

The Outlook For Thursday

Weather reports are so boring. Whitesnake and I have stopped watching them. We can look out the window to see if it's sunny, windy etc and if it's going to rain, my hair frizzes up like crazy. My hair is much more reliable than the weather report too. Instead of having those boring weather reports every hour, I could just stick my head out the window and send them a pic of my hair.  The degree of frizz would show the likelihood of rain. That would be much more interesting to look at than satellite pics which nobody understands. Perhaps I should consider changing my occupation to weather girl. What do you think? That's enough nonsense from me today.

Keeping Up With KB

Hi all,

I'm feeling great, Whitesnake and I had a wonderful weekend. Whitesnake's brother and sis-in-law arrived from Australia on Friday. I was a little nervous as I've never met any of his family before. I shouldn't have worried, they are both lovely people and we had a relaxing, fun time together.

We visited one of our favourite beaches, had a few bbqs, a yummy lunch at the pub and we invited G round to meet them, which led to Sing Star (of course), hehe!

Are they here yet?

Are they here yet?
Yay, they are here.

They've headed off on their travels again and we'll be catching up with them before they head home. They'll probably be relieved that they won't have to watch any more cooking programmes for a while. Whitesnake and I are addicted to cooking shows :) Coco enjoyed all the extra cuddles and playing catch, she'll probably sleep for a week after all the excitement.

Had a lovely Valentines with my man. Actually, it started off a little rocky but we will blame some crappy service from Vodafone and the heat. The rest of the day was fab and Whitesnake cooked me a delicious Valantine's Day dinner.

That's all from me today. I'll be posting more pics later.

Have a great day/night.

Keeping Up With KB and Weekend Walkabout

Hi all,

We're just about ready for our visitors. I'll be back next week to tell you all about it. In the meantime, I've left you a recipe which was sent to me by my good friend Discoverylover...Simply Delish Macaroni and Cheese. Also, Coco has posted her views on what's going on at our house...Coco's Animal Antics.

I don't have a walkabout to share this week as I've been preparing for our visitors . I'll leave a linky below for those who have a  Weekend Walkabout to share.
Bye for now
Have a great weekend.

Keeping Up With KB

Just about ready for Whitesnake's brother and sis-in-law to visit. I haven't met any of Whitesnake's family before so I'm really looking forward to it.

Spent most of the week cleaning, gardening, all that boring stuff. Actually, I don't mind gardening because I find it quite relaxing but cleaning in this heat is a different story..

It's not all been mundane though. Whitesnake and I went to a pub we hadn't been to since we first met. It hasn't changed much. We had a relaxing time and a nice bite to eat.

Oh, I almost forget. I have good news re my health plan. I had my yearly check up and I've lost weight and my blood pressure has come down. All my hard work is paying off.

Coco (our Cocker Spaniel), often posts her views on life on our joint blog. Now, by popular demand, she will be posting weekly and asking her animal friends or their owners, to do the same.  The first installment of Coco's Animal Antics is here and she'll be posting again next weekend on our joint blog. If you have pics of your pets or animals,  please post to your blog and share the details on our Linky. Coco will be very grateful to know she's not the only crazy pet out there.

That's all from me for today. See you soon for Simply Delish.

Weekend Walkabout - Mum's Garden

I've been so busy preparing for our visitors that I almost forgot to post Weekend Walkabout. Thanks for the reminder, Shelia. Here's some pics from a tiny, tiny walk around my parent's garden. Isn't it beautiful!

Keeping Up With KB

I'm soooooo excited. Whitesnake and I are having overseas visitors staying with us soon. I'm going to take a week or so off from blogging so I can make preparations for their arrival.

I will leave you with a recipe that Whitesnake cooked up for us last weekend...Weekend Slap Up Chicken n Veggie Pie. It was so good that I had two large helpings. He's also been posting a story he's been working on to his blog...King of Dreams. It's really good, go check it out.

I've been sitting here wilting like a flower. It's very humid today,I hope the rain will come soon to cool us all down. I'm gonna head out to Coco's paddling pool to soak my feet. At least one of us gets some use out of it.

Have a great weekend and if I'm organised enough, I'll check in next week before the visitors arrive. I won't say who it is 'cause I'm not sure who knows they're coming. Sounds so mysterious, hehe!

Bye for now

Dating Whitesnake

30 days to a happier, healthier me  day 15

I'm chuckling to myself as I write this because it's taken me two and a half months to get to day 15. Told you it would take me a while to finish. The important thing to me is that I make these goals of mine a regular part of my life and I think I'm doing that ever so slowly. Didn't do so well this past holiday weekend but I'm back on track today.

My goal for day 15 is to have a date night/day with Whitesnake at least once a week. We do this already but I want to keep doing it and not let it go by the wayside. This past weekend we visited a new bar for lunch. Well it's actually a bar we've been to before but it's changed it's name for the umpteenth time. It's the first time we've been there together and it was very pleasant. We had a lovely chat, Whitesnake had a couple of beers, I had a lemonade (being the responsible driver) and we had a yummy toasted sandwich each. We were the only customers in there so it was very relaxing. Followed by a walk around the block.  Lovely!

Do you have date nights with your other half? What kind of dates do you go on together?

Hope you are all well and happy.
See you tomorrow

My Friend Rosey by Keith Hillman

One of my goals this year is to read more books. You can read my reviews and find out where you can purchase the books I've read this year here...KB's Bookshelf.

It's always wonderful when you read a book which was written by a friend. I thoroughly enjoyed reading My Friend Rosey -  the adventures of a confused thirty something  I especially enjoyed finding out more about Fuzzybutt, Scruff and Sebastian the Sex-Starved Stallion! Rosey's stories make me giggle because she reminds me a lot of myself - she could be my long lost relative. You can read Rosey's Blog and purchase her book here.

Thanks so much for sending us the book Keith. Love the way you write. Coco enjoyed it too!

Have you enjoyed any good reads recently?

See you tomorrow for more from 30 days to a happier, healthier me.

KB and Whitesnakes Home

I was going to share a recipe for today's post but Whitesnake has kindly done it for me. It's on our joint blog...KB and Whitesnakes Home.

Not much to report today. The long weekend was great but over too quickly. Can never spend enough time with my man.

See ya tomorrow.
