Keeping Up With KB

Hi all,

It's been quite a week. My Mammogram results came through as all clear, which was great news.

Mum and Dad returned from their holiday and it was lovely to have a catch up with them and hear about their trip.

There was a big quake in Wellington and I was worried about a friend of ours who lived there. Such a relief when I received a text message saying he'd just moved back to Auckland that very same day.

Loved watching the return of All Black Rugby season. They kicked some Aussie butt and hopefully will do so again next week.

Anyway, hope you are all well.

That's all folks.

I'm such a slack blogger these days

Hi all,

Here are my excuses for not blogging recently...

I'm enjoying filling up our new house with lovely things and making it our own.

We're planning our wedding for March this year.

We're planning our Honey Moon for April this year.

I was asked by Helium to join Sears Fitness Writers. We're writing articles for six months and the price offered per article is a good incentive. I'm really enjoying learning more about fitness as I do my research and I pick up assignments as often as I can.

Right, I think my excuses are actully pretty good.

Hope you are well.

Keeping Up With KB

Hi all,

I've been feeling happy and relaxed the past few days.  We've had some beautiful Spring weather, along with a few rainy days.  Whitesnake and I have been making the most of the sunshine by taking a few walks. Nothing like a walk in the sunshine to give mood and energy a boost. We put the clocks forward last weekend so we have an extra hour of daylight to enjoy too.

Enjoyed lunch with Whitesnake and my parents a couple of days ago. They had raved on about a new Indian restaurant and wanted us to try it out. Whitesnake isn't much of a curry lover and I couldn't image eating a curry for lunch, but it was delish. The atmosphere, decor, food and company was amazing. We had curry, a soft drink, rice and naan bread for just $10 each. A bargain.

P.S. We've been back for another curry since I first started writing this post.

P.P.S Whitesnake baked Turkish Bread and Orange Cake yesterday...YUM. I'm so lucky.

Keeping Up With KB

After a year of ups and downs, I can officially say that today I'm free from my old life. The house sale was finalised today and I'm free to start my new life with my darling Whitesnake. We've been together for three years this week. How time flies when we're having fun. I'm so excited!

Here are some pics from our walk around the Marina yesterday.

I Hear Wedding Bells

It's official - Whitesnake and I are engaged!

One morning last month, Whitesnake informed me he had written a poem. There was nothing unusual in this so I told him I'd read it when I was online later. A little while later, he asked me again if I'd read it. I thought to myself that it must be a good one so I went to the computer to have a look. After reading the first couple of lines, I jumped up and said," Yes!" We were intending to keep this news between us until we told my parents but that wasn't to be.

Whitesnake and I post our poetry to the Helium writing site and a little while later, Whitesnake recieved an email from one of the Helium channel managers saying how wonderful his poem was and if she could share our story with Helium. We agreed and our story was posted to the Helium blog.

We attempted to inform my parents face-to-face a couple of times since then but couldn't due to illness and holidays. Finally, we could wait no more, we visited my parents this morning and shared our happy news.

Flash Fiction Friday - Mistaken Identity

Each Friday I write a short story in exactly 55 words. If you'd like to join in the fun and games, write your story, visit G-Man and let him know you've posted.

He travelled back in time to stop a murder. Carefully noting down every detail of the crime and how he intended to change the events of the day. The big day finally arrived, his efforts made no difference, a man still died. His notebook was found and used against him. Police arrested the wrong man.

I'm reading a fab book by Stephen King - 11.22.63, which gave me an idea for this story. I have no clue how the story turns out but this was one of the scenarios I came up with.

Our recipe today is...Simply Delish Meatloaf.

Have a great weekend all!

Teaser Tuesdays - Survival of the Fittest by Jonathan Kellerman

Teaser Tuesdays is hosted by Should Be Reading.

Here's how it works...

Grab your latest read, open it up and share two sentences from the page. Easy as that. Don't forget to link back to MizB and share the title and author of your book so others can add to their TBR (to be read) list if they wish.

Here's my teaser...

"They just gave me another cold one, Alex. I'm not sure I can pay you, though we did get brownie points on the last thing, so maybe."

You can read my review of this book here...Survival of the Fittest by Jonathan Kellerman, Book Review

Keeping Up With KB

Hi all,

I've had a cold for the past couple of days so I've been taking it easy.

I've been writing poetry...sitting 3rd in the Helium Poetry Contest at the moment.

I've also been getting stuck into... Under The Dome by Stephen King, 300 pages down and still over 500 to go. Love it!

I have my last CBT session tomorrow and I have mixed feelings about it. I've gone from not looking forward to them to really enjoying the sessions and I've come a long way in six weeks. I know it's time for me to put more of what I've learnt into place and I'm looking forward to that but I'm kinda sad to be finished too. My anxiety and stress levels have come down so much in the past few weeks and I've been sleeping better. I feel like I'm me again. It's a great feeling.

Looking forward to a few days off with Whitesnake too.
Righto, that's me up to date, hope you are all well. I'm going to head over to Helium to find a topic to write about.

Teaser Tuesdays - Under The Dome by Stephen King

Teaser Tuesdays is hosted by the lovely MizB of Should Be Reading.

Here's how it works...

Grab your latest read, open it up and share two sentences from the page. Easy as that. Don't forget to link back to MizB and share the title and author of your book so others can add to their TBR (to be read) list if they wish.

Here's my teaser...

Her eyes were wide, but there was no panic in them, only bewilderment. There was no time for panic.

Keeping Up With KB

Feeling a bit blah the last few days mood wise but there's still a lot going on I suppose. Whitesnake has started his new job and all is going well there. House is still on the market, no offers as yet but some interest. Have had three session of CBT so far. Felt on a real high when I left the session last week as I felt I was making a lot of progress but since then, been feeling a bit unmotivated. I have homework from the session each week and I haven't completed any so far. Perhaps I shall go and do that now and see how I feel after.

Hope you are all well

Happy Valentine's Day

Happy Valentine's Day to my Whitesnake. Love you babe xxxx.

We're going out for a yummy lunch together to celebrate. Are you doing anything special?

You Are a Nonchalant Valentine

You're happy to celebrate Valentine's Day if your sweetie is into it, but it's really not your thing.

You think love transcends commercial holidays, and you definitely don't put a lot of stock in V-Day.

Your perfect Valentine's Day date is low key and easy... No gifts if you can help it.

You think it's a lot more meaningful to spend a quiet night at home together than to go to a fancy restaurant.

MY POETRY AND ARTICLES

I'll be updating my poetry and articles from the Helium website over the next couple of days. This will make me a little more organised and I hope you will read a couple of them too:) I'll list them oldest first. Reading them makes me realise how far I've come since I first started. Thanks for all your input and encouragement over the years. Prepare to be bombarded!

CHECKING IN

Hello my friends,

Hope you are all well. Life is good with us. We're making the most of the last of the sunny weather. My parents are coming over tonight for a bar-b-que, which will be cool.

I've been busy rating and writing over on -HELIUM. I joined the sight a few years back but became discouraged by the attitudes of some of the people who belonged to the site. Decided to go back as they owed me $2.74...don't laugh! I'm enjoying my time there and I'm hoping to improve my stats and maybe earn $5 - now you can laugh. I've earned a writing star and a rating star so far, which means the articles I've written are in the top 75% of the categories they are in. *glows with pride*. This means, either my writing has improved dramatically since I first posted over there or many of the other writers are crap. LOL!

Here's my favourite article to date. You may recognise it as an earlier blog post. That's what I love about Helium - I retain the rights to anything I write for the site which means I can post to my blog as well.

-site no longer available

I've been neglecting my blog recently but I intent to post on a more regular basis. Haha, famous last words. I've posted over on the blog I share with -Whitesnake. too and hope to keep posting over there more often as well.

-KB and WHITESNAKES HOME .

Have a great weekend.

INTRODUCING...MISSY

I'd like to introduce you to my friend..... She's funny, kind, loving, loyal, a talented poet, a Mum and one of my dearest friends.

A couple of years ago, I joined Helium (a site for writers). If I remember correctly, Muttars and Keith were already writing on blogspot and many more of us followed suit when we grew tired of the restrictions placed on us by the Helium site.

One of the first people I came into contact with over on Helium was Phil, affectionately know to Missy and I as sandwich...it's a long story. Anyway, Phil was always mentioning this lovely lady he knew named Missy and suggested we get in touch. He thought we'd get on like a house on fire. He was soooooooooo right. Missy and I have remained good friends since, she is like a sister to me.

Missy and I are alike in many ways but I think what we have most in common is our sense of humour. I find this amusing in itself because for a start she is American and many Americans I have come into contact with don't relate to my sense of humour. Also, she is a woman and I usually get along better with men. I know a conversation with Missy isn't going to be hours going on and on about shoes and shopping, etc. Not that there is anything wrong with that but I tend to nod off when those kinds of topics come up.

Missy and I support each other, cheer each other up when needed and generally just have a laugh. I'd be lost without her friendship.

Why don't you pay her a visit and tell her I sent you.

Love you Missy!

Bye y'all

P.S. If you'd be interested in being introduced to any more of my blog buddies...drop me a comment here and I'll do another poll.

A YEAR AGO TODAY

It’s been a year since I gave up work and I feel like I’ve been on holiday ever since. Where has the time gone?

Hubby and I decided it was time for me to stop working because I was missing out on travelling the world with him. Thought I may as well take the opportunity to travel now while I’m still young.

I’ve been lucky to go on five overseas trips this year. I’ve taken a cruise (something I’ve always dreamed of), visited Hong Kong for the first time and re-visited some old favourites. I haven’t missed working but I occasionally miss the people; usually when hubby is away on his travels.

Thinking back, I was surprised by the fact I didn’t know most of you a year ago. Bizarre really as I consider some of the people I’ve met through Helium and Blogspot my dearest friends.

I’d like to say a special thank you to Toadee. He’s the friend who introduced me to Helium, if it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t know any of you. Feel free to thank or slap him for that, LOL.

Anyway, thanks to all of you for your support, kind words, laughter, friendship and sharing your blog thoughts with me.

Love you all, well most of you, hehe. Here’s to many more years of friendship and laughter.

Cheers
