BUSY,BUSY,BUSY!

It's been a busy weekend over here at blonde central. Seems every man and his dog wants to catch up with us and we've a few birthdays coming up too. Will be whisking hubby away for a few days to celebrate his birthday. We'll be busy soaking in the pool, feel free to stop by if you're in the neighbourhood.

Be good - if you must but I'd prefer it if you'd misbehave so you have some stories to tell me when I return.

Not very good at keeping secrets after all am I. Y'all know which phrase comes next...BE AFRAID, BE VERY AFRAID.

INTRODUCING...

A few months ago, our friend began interviewing her blog buddies and posting snippets of convos she'd had with us, on her blog. I was firsties *glows with pride* but all I could think of at the time was what a great idea it was and how I wish I had thought of it first. It's kinda been at the back of my mind and I thought I'd try my own take on it.

I often visit blogs and wonder how others who comment, found each other, whether they know each other in real life. Maybe I'm just nosey but those kinds of things interest me.

So, I'm going to do my own interview series. Not the same as Morgy because let's face it, I can't get half way through the interview and say, 'That's all very interesting but now, let's talk about me.' *giggles*

I'd like to introduce my blog buddies to you, maybe include a few pics, how we know each other, include some of my favourite blog posts. Don't worry, I won't divulge your deep, dark secrets (saving that for when I need some cold, hard, cash) or include pics without your permission.

What I'd like from you nutters is for you to vote on my poll over there *points to the right*. This is not a popularity contest. I don't want you to vote for your favourite blogger (cause obviously that would be ME). I would like you to vote for a person you have seen around and maybe found interesting or wondered what on earth they have in common with this crazy blonde.

It's my way of introducing my friends to you. Also, there are a few people on my blog roll I hardly know so it will be a good way for me to learn more about them too.

Happy voting, I hope I didn't forget anyone, I did it in a bit of a rush...will check it again later.

P.S. Mr Grumpy Pants - the last option is especially for you :)

FLASH 55

Last month I posted a snippet from a story I'd been working on.

The following installment is my 55 for this week:

She reaches out for him, as she sighs in her dreams. Her beautiful face appears peaceful in sleep. It's difficult to comprehend that this innocent looking woman before him, is the bravest soul he's ever met. She fights the demons willingly at his side but he longs to give her the normal life she deserves.

STORY TIME WITH KB

Press play and I'll read my story to you.

Oh that was so much fun. When I played it back I thought I read it too quickly, I'll take it slower next time. Me thinks I'm going to have a lot of fun with this. I love writing but my punctuation and spelling are a work in process, reading my stories will be so much easier. Just think about all the mischief I can get up to talking about people (who don't have sound cards) behind their backs. Just kidding G...I'll always include the written version :)

A special thank you to He often reads his poetry to us using the same technique as above. Thanks for the info on how to go about it x

PARDON GIVEN TO GANG RAPISTS

I read an article in my daily rag yesterday. It's been on my mind since. I was going to write about the disgust I feel for these men but I think I'll let the facts speak for themselves.

Sara, was gang-raped by three men. Her attackers were tried and sentenced by the Supreme Court. Imagine Sarah's shock at a later date, to discover these three men walking around freely in her village.

The men received a pardon from the Afghan President and were discretely freed. Sarah's rape was public and brutal.

The doctor's report said Sara had a 17mm wound in her private parts cut with a bayonet. She was left to stumble home, bleeding and without her trousers.

According to the copy of the pardon, the men were released because, "they had been forced to confess to their crimes".

After doing a little research, I discovered that previously, armed men had taken Sarah's son away by force. He hasn't been seen since. The above mentioned rape took place after she spoke publicly regarding the commander who was responsible.

It still shocks me that in this day and age, women are being treated this way for speaking their minds.

Makes me thankful I live in little ole NZ.

I THINK WE'RE ALONE NOW

A lone at last

L anguishing in solitude

O blivious to life outside

N obody to disturb me

E verybody come back!

Has been a strange week for me. Hubby has been away on his travels, my parents are enjoying a well deserved break overseas, my sis is overseas, the kids are away from home and my closest friends have either been working or out of town.

When I have people all around me, I reach a point where I crave time alone. There are only a few people who understand how deep a need this is in me. Some think it's because they have upset me or done something wrong. This isn't the case at all. If I don't have time to myself I become moody and withdrawn. I know for a fact, a few of my blog buddies have been on the receiving end of some of my mood swings. The best thing to do is just leave me be and I'll be back to my bouncy self in no time.

IT'S WRITTEN IN THE STARS

Checked my horoscope before bed last night and compared it with the day I had. Let's see...wrote five articles, organised an audio version of a story I'm working on, jotted down several ideas for new posts. Hmmm, sounds similar to what's written below. Very interesting.

Taurus
April 20 - May 20
This is a great day to start any project that concerns writing, acting, or speaking, dear Taurus. Your creative energies should be flowing freely and abundantly today, and you should enjoy the rush of new ideas that keep popping into your head. A number of stimulating conversations with close friends should keep your energies churning. Expect to spend a lot of time on the phone, or perhaps in the car dropping in on these friends. Enjoy your day!

SMARTER THAN THE AVERAGE BLONDE

I shouldn't really say that because as the saying goes - pride comes before a fall, hehe.

A couple of people advised me they were having problems accessing my blog. My first reaction was...maybe it's a problem with their computers, until I began experiencing the same difficulties. Bugga!

Anyway, after running all the usual checks, pulling my hair out, yelling at my laptop, threatening to throw her out the window as a last resort...I think I've finally fixed it *holds breath*

I'd appreciate it if you could let me know if you have any more problems.

Time for a huge bucket of wine me thinks.

Thanks guys

BIG LOVE

Don't you just love it when you have a strong opinion on a topic, you think you can never be swayed and then you see or hear something which makes your mind start ticking and thinking...maybe things aren't so black and white after all.

I've always had strong views on men having relationships with more than one women. I refer to men in this case, as it relates to the rest of my story. So before you start having a go...I realise women do it too. I'm referring to old men with multiple, young, girlfriends or polygamists with multiple wives. I used to get on my high horse and say, "That's disgusting. It's just wrong. Those women are being taken advantage of. How could they do that?" That kind of thing.

I recently saw an ad on telly for 'The Girls Next Door' and immediately though, Yuck but I decided to have a look as I'm always interested in how people with different opinions to myself tick. It's a show about Hugh Hefner and his THREE girlfriends.

I was quite surprised. It's not exactly television for rocket scientists. Those girls take blondeness to a whole new level. What surprised me was the way these four people interact. Hugh obviously loves his girls very much. He appears supportive, nurturing, loving and treats them with the utmost respect. The girls adore him and it seems the feelings are mutual.

I also saw an ad for 'Big Love'. This show is fiction, one man married to three women. I closed my eyes through most of the first episode because the idea of polygamy made me cringe. It's an unconventional relationship but it works for them. I find it fascinating and haven't missed an episode since.

What I find interesting is; Hugh has three girlfriends under the same roof but marrying all three would be illegal. What's the difference?

The polygamists portrayed in 'Big Love' have to hide away even though they all love each other and let's face it with that many mums...the kids are never going to be without a babysitter . Unlike some families these days who seem to think children can raise themselves and don't need supervision.

I couldn't share my man in this way but it started me thinking. Some people marry and treat their spouse like they are a piece of dirt on their shoe, others beat their significant other and abuse their children. What gives them the right to marry and others who cherish, love and respect their families not?

As long as they are adults, happy and not hurting anyone...I wish them all the best.

FICTION FRIDAY - THE THIEF

I found this link for
on our buddy

The idea is to read the prompt and write for five mins without editing.

THIS WEEK'S PROMPT

Have your character steal something. Now have her rationalize it.

She stares at the jar of coins under the sink. Her mother has been saving her change for quite a while now and the jar is half full.

Surely she won't miss a couple, she thinks to herself.

The girl needs only a few more coins to add to her pocket money to buy the record she has been saving for.

Would it really do any harm to slip two or three coins into my pocket?

The waiting is unbearable, if she doesn't buy it today, she'll have to wait for another week. She sits on the bus, the coins burning a hole in her pocket as well as in her heart.

Mum works so hard, she's saving the money in the jar for Christmas presents for ME.

The daughter will confess to her mother when she returns home.
It's only a silly record...she can wait another week.

FLASH 55 - TIME

tick, tock, tick, tock
how do I make the ticking stop
there aren't enough hours in the day
most of them spent dreaming away

tick, tock, tick, tock
back to the chores, where's my mop
hands move slowly, a waiting game
days passing, remaining the same

Will I fulfill my dreams before the ticking stops?

Bugga, bugga, bugga! I had quite a good rhythm going there. I reached my 55 word allocation too soon and now I have run out of time and have to shoot off. Quite funny actually considering my topic today.

Is that how tick tock is spelt or is it tic tock...oh wait, that's tic tac. I'm so blonde today. Must need more coffee.

KB...THE EARLY YEARS

I'm still tidying up my photos. Came across a few today which I thought I'd share. They are a bit jumbled up but I hope you enjoy!

AWWW, LOOKS LIKE BUTTER WOULDN'T MELT IN MY MOUTH

LITTLE SIS, DAD AND KB

No wonder Mum wanted to take this pic. Sister's hair, Dad's stone washed jeans and my dress (which looks like I'm trying to hide twins under there). WTF were we thinking walking around like that?

A DAY AT THE ZOO WITH A FAMILY FRIEND.

Nice legs KB...if I do say so myself...oh wait, I just did!

LIL SIS, MUM, KB AND MY BESTEST FRIEND AT THE TIME

I remember this day so well. It was my birthday and I asked if we could go to the beach. Yes people, this is how you dress when you go to the beach in England in April. Dad drove us to Stockport, we had to walk for about 15 mins along the beach to reach the sea. We played mini golf and visited WHSmith (my favourite place to go in the whole world - you guessed it...a bookshop). Too young to know the joys of the pub, LOL!

MY ONLY VISIT TO THE PRINCIPAL'S OFFICE

KB IN SILLY HAT

I had to include this because when I saw it I thought, "How the hell did you climb up that huge hill girl?" Followed by, "What were you thinking perming your hair?"

SLEEPOVER AT SARAH'S PLACE

MY FIRST CAR

I was so proud, saved up my wages and bought my Escort for $3000. Hubby later wrote it off when he had a car accident but that's a story for another day.

KB IN SPAIN

I looooooooooooovvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvveeeeeeeeee this photo. I remember the exact moment it was taken and every time I see it, I feel like I am back there. I had just been dancing with my Dad to Boney M, one minute he was there and next he asked me to turn around and snap. Guess you had to be there.

KB WITH MY BOYFRIEND'S BROTHER AND FRIENDS

Looks like Dean is touching my boob but I'm sure he wouldn't have been as my boyfriend was taking the photo. I have known the guy on the left since I was 15 and he's still one of my best buds. Way cool!

KB AND BOYFRIEND

Oh dear, why didn't somebody tell me I was going out in a sack?

My 21st birthday

BOOBS ON BIKES

Today is Auckland's Boobs on Bikes parade. Apparently, there will be about 30 topless women on bikes. There has been a huge fuss about it in the media. Opponents to the parade suggest it's tasteless and offensive. The 80,000 people who attended last year would probably say otherwise.

Some objections have been; "I don't want my children to see it" and "I don't want to see women's breasts in public". In my opinion...if you don't want to see the breasts, stay away from the city today - it's only for one day people. If you don't want your children to see the parade - keep them away and shouldn't they be at school anyway?

I can't say the idea of riding a bike topless in the middle of winter appeals to me but if women want to do it, I don't have a problem with it.

The women are baring their breasts because they want to, I don't see this as exploitation as some people have suggested. If they were being paid to do it, to put food on the table, I would look at it differently but they are doing it for fun.

Why don't these protesters direct their energy towards doing something about helping the homeless on Auckland's streets or some other worthwhile cause? For goodness sake they are just breasts people - half of us have them and we have all seen them before. If you don't like it...stay away...simple as that.

I WAS AFRAID...I WAS VERY AFRAID

In case you haven't noticed...I've been having a bit of a clear out lately. I came across some pics which amused me today. I'm not one for adventures of the exhilarating kind. I often tell hubby, "Why do I need to jump out of an aeroplane? I can freak myself out some days just standing in a queue at the supermarket."

When we were on hols years ago, he decided to book us on a wee adventure (without telling me). We took a ride in a helicopter, jet boated down the river and rafted down the Kawarau. I shit myself (not literally) before hand, enjoyed the helicopter immensely, the jet boat ride was cool and I squealed with delight down the rapids (much to the disgust of my instructor who kept hitting me on my helmet with his paddle and reminding me I should be paddling). I'd never do the rafting again cause well...I'm a pussy and when one of the rafts capsized my plan was to burst out laughing (from fear I expect) but I'm happy I did it.

I'M THE ONE GRINNING IN THE MIDDLE

TAKEN BEFORE WE HEADED TO THE RAFT...LOOKING LIKE I'VE SEEN A GHOST

I'M SECOND ON THE RIGHT; TRYING TO REMEMBER TO PADDLE

BUGGA! WHERE DID I GO?

Hope you likey

WOMEN WATCH SPORTS TOO YA KNOW

There I was enjoying the rugby on the weekend. Half time came along and I was bombarded with the usual ads...

Sheep drenching
Tool Supplies
Beer
Half naked women eating burgers (cause that happens everyday...yeah right)

Why is advertising during sports directed towards men? Women watch sports too ya now and I'm pretty sure they are the ones spending up large.

Just one of the many thoughts that go through this blondes head.

NEW BEGINNINGS

I've been looking through a journal I found which is full of poems and stories I wrote years ago. I kinda like this one actually.

Beginnings are so wonderful
The spirit sours, the heart is full
Hard times and worries melt away
Thinking of him gets me through the day

Romantic music, candles and flowers
Staying in bed, talking for hours
Sleepless nights just being together
You know that this will last forever

I wonder when we begin to forget
Those special feelings when we first met
Time is spent surviving the daily muddle
Who has the time or energy to cuddle

But I love him more and more each day
I know we'll survive, we'll find a way
So I'll think back to the first time we kissed
And know time spent together is not to be missed

THE OLYMPIC YAWN

Am I the only person with a TV who is not watching the Olympics? My sis-in-law called from Australia and informed me with much hilarity that she was well up on the medal count compared to me. Erm, for starters She nor I are actually competing in the Olympics as far as I know and also, she was a Kiwi last time I checked.

I've never been a big fan of sports...well except for the ruggers of course but I thought I had better turn on the telly and see what the fuss was about. Watched the gymnastics for all of five minutes, followed by the rowing and turned it off. I of all people understand supporting your country but why people who have never shown any interest in sports what-so-ever suddenly get all fired up about the Olympics is beyond me. I really don't get it.

If you enjoy watching it...good for you but I can't wait for it to be over and regular scheduled programming to resume.

I'll stick to watching the ruggers, thank you very much. Which reminds me...All Blacks/South Africa in the early am Sunday. Should be a beauty.

GO THE MIGHTY ALL BLACKS...WOOHOO!

FLASH 55

Smiling faces all around. Mum is nowhere to be found. Other mums work, they are here, where are you? I sit... face pressed against the school gates. Hoping and wishing you'll appear. Holding the picture I painted for you close to my heart. I wait alone with my tears for company. Mummy, Where are you?

'GEORGE CLOONEY RUINED MY SEX LIFE'...I WISH!!!!!!!!!!

George's ex has accused him of ruining her sex life. Apparently, the poor dear hasn't had sex for a year, *cue violins* She blames the fact that men are too afraid to ask her out because they fear they won't measure up to George.

MEET KB....AGE 15

I came across a book of poems and stories I wrote years ago. Wow, teenage angst at it's best or maybe I should say at it's worst. Most of it's very amateur and I chuckled over it for ages. I was tempted to tidy the writing up but I decided against it because I reckon it shows how far I've come. Anyone else game to share their first attempts at writing? *giggles*

ROMANTIC BEGINNINGS...KB AGE 15 (yikes)

I was slowly walking down the street
I didn't know that we would meet
You said hello, Greg's my name
I thought you were quite insane
You wanted my number, I reluctantly gave it
I thought you would surely forget it
You called me up and asked for a date
Things started off well, we stayed up real late
I started to like you, you paid such attention
The other girl you were seeing, you forgot to mention
But I never lived up to the girl you chased
Such a romantic beginning, what a waste
But I'll always remember that special day
When I discovered a boy worshipped me from far away

My mother warned me about him but of course, I thought I knew better. I can't stop giggling.

I'll keep reading through what I have and post more later.

When someone accuses you unjustly
Judges you unkindly, second guesses your every action
Their mind full of suspicion, jealousy and doubt
Don't take it to heart, stay strong and trust yourself
Because when they look into the mirror
It's not you or your actions staring back at them
But a reflection of THEIR true self

TIME FOR A RAMBLE

I knew it!

You Should Be a Romance Novelist

You see the world as it should be, and this goes double for all matters of the heart.

You can find the romance in any situation, and you would make a talented romance story writer...

And while you may be a traditional romantic, you're just as likely to be drawn to quirky or dark love stories.

As long as it deals with infatuation, heartbreak, and soulmates - you could write it.

YES, I'VE BEEN READING THE SANITARY PAD STICKERS AGAIN

The average person's left hand does 56% of the typing... I am right-handed but recently sliced off a little bit of my left pinkie finger. Yikes, I never realised how much I relied on my little finger for typing - nightmare!

MORE USELESS FACTS

The average person spends two years on the phone in his/her lifetime...These people have obviously never seen my phone bill!

IN OTHER NEWS

Blogger is driving me batty at the moment. For the last couple of days, when I try to answer comments or post, my laptop locks up for several minutes. Is anyone else having trouble?

STILL MORE NEWS

The All Blacks kicked Australia's butts in the rugby last weekend. Loved every minute of it and happy danced my way through the rest of the weekend.

I have lots to update but I am so fed up with waiting to post (patience is NOT a virtue of mine) I'm giving up for now and will try again tomorrow.

COUNTING MY BLESSINGS

I'd like to share a news story which inspired me recently.

Christian Nisbet is your typical nine year old boy; loves the outdoors and trying new things.

Three years ago he took up motocross. "I had loads of fun and loved racing, it's a great sport," says Christian.

He attempted a 20m jump on his motor bike, the shock of the landing broke his back in three places and he is paralysed from the neck down.

Christian may spend the rest of his life in a wheelchair. I was brought to tears hearing him speak. He is handling the situation with the courage, humour and wisdom of someone far beyond his years. He is so full of hope and determination.

Hearing his story made my worries seem insignificant. I sat back and counted my blessings. I'll let Christian have the last word...

"I'm glad I did it, yeah," says Christian. "Always wanted to do that jump, did third time.

"I crashed, but that happens."

FLASH 55 - EEK

An uninvited visitor shelters from the storm
I announce my arrival to each and every room
He scurries to darkened corners
I've been told he's more afraid of me than I am of him
Each time I see him
I run squealing from the room
How can this be?
He's just a tiny, little mouse
