30 Days Of Me - Day 1

Today's challenge is to post a recent photo of me and list 15 interesting things you may not know about me. Well, the photo part is easy but things you don't know about me may be tricky, as I tell you nutters EVERYTHING.

1.  I lived 15 years of my life in Manchester, England.

2.  I am 1/4 Italian.

3. Try not to be too shocked by this next one - I am not a natural blonde.

4.  I played the role of Snow White in a production when I was 10. Scared me half to death when I had to kiss the boy who played the Prince. Put me off acting for life.

5.   I have earned money for my poetry, only a small amount so far but now I love to brag that I am a paid writer.

6.  When I was a little girl, I wanted to be a fireman.

7. I only ever won one academic prize while at school and it was for attendance, LOL!

8.   I have been on telly twice. Once in a news report at the Bank I worked in. I was asked to walk into the bank, approach the cashier and hand her some cash. I gathered my family around the telly to watch the
news segment and was very disappointed when they only showed my hand and the cash. The second time, I was taped laughing (what a surprise), for a training video. Much to my surprise, my laughing face was used on the opening for every training video throughout the whole bank for about five years.  I was temping for the bank at the time. Every time I went to a new branch for the first time, people would say...don't I know you from somewhere? Loved it really...my 15 mins of fame

9. For several years, I was on a team who set up and opened new branches for the bank. We would have celebrities open the branch and they would stay at the same Hotel as us. One year, John Walker (first human to run a mile in under 3.50) opened the branch for us. The next day, in front of heaps of people, he remembered me from the day before and sat next to me for breakfast. Lovely man, very quiet and softly spoken. What an honour. All I could think was...wait till I tell Dad, cause my Dad is a runner too.

10. I play on the fact I'm blonde (often) and have been known to use it to my advantage but I'm actually reasonably intelligent. Just keep that between us, OK.

11. I used to smoke. Gave up about ten years ago.

12. Two of my ex-boyfriends are now GAY. Watch out Whitesnake...

13. I can tell when I'm really stressed cause I become very OCD and start doing things in threes, eg putting things in dishwasher in lots of three. Just call me Count, hehe!

14. My favourite hobby when I was a child was horses. I would ride horses, read about horses, take pictures of horses, play horses in the school yard....you get the picture.

15 . I love Whitesnake..oh wait, you all knew that.

Cockle Bay, New Zealand

Welcome to Walkabout Wednesday - a place to explore and share the different corners of our world.

It's Spring time in NZ and we finally have some sunshine. Whitesnake and I decided to head out to our local beach and enjoy it.

More Cockle Bay photos

Walkabout is a phrase we use in NZ, which means to walk around and explore with no specific destination in mind. Have you been walkabout anywhere interesting this week? If so, post your story or pictures to your blog, leave a comment here and Whitesnake or KB will come take a look.

Have a great week.

It's All About Me

A few months ago, I was watching Oprah (something I do secretly when nobody is around), hehe! There was a segment about a lady who introduced herself as a Professional Blogger . I became very excited as I watched, thinking, I'd LOVE to do that. I perused the said lady's website and became even more excited when I realised...I can do this!

I spent the next several months researching professional blogging and implementing the things I learned as I went along. The key points I learned were in regard to ad placement, blog content and traffic. All my hard work has earned me a whopping $2.04 to date. To say I'm a little frustrated, is an UNDERSTATEMENT! To cap it all off, I'm not really enjoying my blog experience as much as I used to. I've been so busy contributing to other sites and trying to generate more traffic that I don't have time to write about me...the reason I began blogging in the first place.

When I first began blogging, I didn't feel like anyone was listening to me in my 'real' life. I started to write to find my voice and be heard. Since I've been with Whitesnake, I don't do that so much because I talk to him and he LISTENS!  I've enjoyed learning about keywords, blog traffic and ad placement but at the end of the day, that's not why I started blogging. As my blog header says, my blog is about love and life through the eyes of a Krazy Blonde. That's what I want to get back to and if I earn some money along the way...that's a bonus.

Yesterday, I was thinking..I've lost track of what my blog is about...ME! I've lost many of my loyal readers because I've been neglecting them and I haven't a clue how to get back to writing the way I want to. I logged onto my dear friend DL's blog and there was the answer...30 days of me. I think it's the perfect way to return to writing about my favourite topic, hehe!

My goal is to write about love and life through my eyes, starting with the 30 days about me challenge. I'm planning to post once a day but only if I FEEL LIKE IT - imagine that, or more frequently, if I feel inclined and not because I put pressure on myself to do so but because I want to.

Here's the 30 day challenge...feel free to join in if you wish.

Dizzy Blonde

Enjoyed a tasty Indian meal last night with Whitesnake and my parents. Whitesnake told me before we left to meet Mum and Dad, that he wasn't keen on Indian food. Me thinks he still has the same opinion as he ordered extra mild and it still almost blew his head off. My poor babe. We had a fantastic time, the rest of us loved our food, the wine was lovely and the conversation was fantastic.

Whitesnake was telling Dad about our Simply Delish venture on our blog. Dad said, oh yes, I've seen Karen's blog before...Dizzy Blonde. Had quite a giggle over that...DB (which is actually the name of a brand of beer in NZ) doesn't quite have the same ring as KB. I'm still chuckling over it.

Whitesnake and I love watching the show...Who Do You Think You Are. It's a TV show were celebrities research their family trees. I'm really interested in finding out more about my family. I come from English and Italian heritage but I don't know much about the Italian side. I questioned my Dad about the Italian side of the family and learnt heaps more than I had previously remembered. I especially love the fact my Dad has an Uncle Frank who he was warned about. Apparently, he was told not to go anywhere alone with his Uncle as he was "connected"...if you know what I mean. Looking forward to doing a bit of research and finding out more.

Well, that's all from Dizzy today.

Flash 55 - A New Life

Karen paced the hallway, looking out onto the rain soaked concrete, for the hundredth time. What if he didn't show? As the sun broke through the clouds, she searched for a rainbow, as a sign of good luck. Steve finally arrived, the smile beaming from his face answered  her questions. Their life together could begin.

Whitesnake and I have been together for a whole year, woohoo! The best and also the hardest year of my life so far.  Happy Anniversary darling, thank you for your love and support. Here's to many more years together.

  • Happy Anniversary to US. We've been together for a year today. I'm so happy to be sharing my life with Whitesnake. Love ya babe xxxx

  • I've reduced my facebook friends down to 100. It was so nice to open my facebook this morning and read news from people I actually know.

  • Air New Zealand have painted a plane black to promote our Rugby Team - The All Blacks...love it!

  • Paris Hilton's past has come back to haunt her. She wasn't allowed to enter Japan because of her recent jaunt to court, regarding charges of using Cocaine. There are consequences to using Cocaine? Who knew?

Mary Bale - Cat Tosser

Mary Bale, decided on the spur of the moment, to throw a cat into a wheelie bin. The poor kitty was in the bin for 15 hours but luckily the incident was recorded on CCTV. When Mary was asked why she did it, she said she thought it would be funny and expected the cat would just wriggle out.

This is disturbing to me on so many levels but I was shocked to read in her apology she said 'I don't know what the fuss is about. It's just a cat.'  . According to Mary's mother, Mary is a cat LOVER. Yikes, I'd hate to see what she'd do if she didn't like something.

Poor, wee kitty. Perhaps someone should trap Mary in a wheelie bin for 15 hours so she can EXPERIENCE what all the fuss is about.

Sunday Scribblings - Clean and Green

Each time I considered this week's prompt for Sunday Scribblings - clean, two things came to mind...

Throw away your broom forever! Innovative and fun slippers take the hassle out of cleaning floors. Just slip them on and the fluffy microfibre pile picks up dust, pet hair and dirt, with every single step you take. It’s easier than maneuvering a floor duster or broom. So, now you can take the back ache out of cleaning your floors . . .and let your feet do the work.

You know you want them...LOL!

AND

My mother taught me TO APPRECIATE A JOB WELL DONE.
"If you're going to kill each other, do it outside. I just finished
cleaning."

I can't stop giggling now.

Ask KB - The Rugby Connection

Today's question is from the lovely, Missy.

Missy - I would like to know what turned you on to Rugby? I know women are getting more into sports, but why Rugby?

KB - Excellent question Missy.

My Dad is a huge football fan. I remember when I was a wee lass he would spend hours watching and playing football. He didn't have much time for watching other sports but would make an exception when the All Blacks  (NZ's international rugby team) were playing. Back in those days the All Blacks were a force to be reckoned with and would leave the opposition quaking in their boots.

I moved to NZ with my family when I was 15. Coming from England, which has a huge football following to NZ, which has a passion for rugby, was quite a change for me. I remember I would often ask my boyfriend if he would like to go out on the weekend and he would stare at me like I was mad and reply, "But the ruggers is on." Or I would phone him and he would say, "I'll have to call you back, the rugby is on." As you can imagine, rugby wasn't very popular with me.

Some considerable time later, a group of friends went to watch Auckland play a rugby match. I kept the telly on just in case I saw them in the crowd. Before the game started, there was an interview with one of the players - Carlos Spencer. So began my obsession with Carlos, or should I say, rugby, hehe. I began watching all the Auckland games and was surprised how much I enjoyed, not just the perving but the actual game, once I learned more about the rules.

I've been to several matches over the years and cheer on the Auckland teams and the All Blacks religiously. I have met (stalked)many of the players. I've been known to get out of bed after four hours sleep and watch a rugby test before heading off to work. When NZ were knocked out of the last World Cup, I actually wept (sad but true).

Here's a little vid for you to enjoy.

I think many women in NZ start watching Rugby because of the way the boys are promoted as eye candy or because many of their men folk watch the game but after a while they realise they actually enjoy watching the games too.  Hope this answers your question Missy.

Have a great day all.

Friday Flash 55 & Writer's Island - The Deadliest Catch

The prompt from Writer's Island this week is fisherman, since I've already written about fishermen in my 55, I'm going to enter the same story for WI.

KB and Whitesnake snuggle up infront of the telly to watch the Deadliest Catch for the first time. Pictures of fishermen pop up on screen...Keith Wizard, Phil Cornelia Marie, Sig Nothwestern.

KB - These men have unusual names.

WS - Chuckles.

As the last name appears...Johnathon Time Bandit, she realises she's experienced another blonde moment.

Not quite a true story but close enough. For those of you who don't know the TV Show, there's a little clip above for you to watch. The names I'm referring to in my story are the captains first names, followed by the names of their boats. Hehe.

Ask KB - The Canine Component

Welcome to Ask KB. This week's question is from Toadee.

Toadee -  Why yes, I have lots of questions boogying around my head but once I discount the pointless, the pitiful and the perverse all that's left is one rather sensible and important question concerning all three of you.
When the two human members of your menange trois got together how did the canine component feel?

KB - Toadee - Excellent question. I warned Steve before he met Coco hat she barks at ALL men who come near me. When I arrived on the doorstep with Steve, Coco came trotting up to him like they were est friends. I was gob smacked and took it as an excellent sign. I wonder how many dog treats he paid her in. Next question please :)

Whitesnake - That was a brill question.........now how about those perverse ones........?

Yeah it was funny cos I said ta KB that Coco would love me......but Kb wasn't so sure.......She actually just jumped in the car after having a sniff as if she wanted to go for a drive..........

Coco - woof!

Do you have a question about Me, Whitesnake, Coco, this blog or life in general? Leave your question HERE and I'll do my best to answer. Ask anything, I'm not shy. In fact, I'm a fountain of useless information.

One Shot Wednesday - What Is Love?

Here's my poem for One Shot.

What is love?
I cannot say
I feel it more
every day

A kiss, a cuddle
A simple word
The joy I feel
Is quite absurd

Summer rain
Brings tears of joy
Dreams of children
A girl or boy?

My wish to bring
A smile to your face
Our love combined
A special place

The Good, The Bad And The Rugby

Steve and I recently enjoyed FIVE days off together. We had a busy, fun and productive time.

The Bad

I'll begin with the bad so I can get it out of the way and also, the bad will finish up in the good section later. Don't you love it when that happens?

I, or should I say we, decided we should spend some of our time off making a start on the Spring Cleaning. Steve does an excellent job with the cleaning AND he gets out of bed much earlier than I do AND on his days off, makes my breakfast AND brings it to me along with my coffee. Not only is this a fantastic way to start my day but by the time I leisurely crawled out of bed, on this occassion, much of said Spring Cleaning was either done or under way. Isn't he wonderful?

I decided to leave him to it and head outdoors. Coco, (otherwise know as the dog of eternal stench), was badly in need of a bath. Usually, I would leave it till she's quite ripe because she hates having a bath but my parents were due for a visit. I donned my rubber gloves, grabbed the dog shampoo and bucket and got stuck in.

It was now time to tackle the garden. Steve usually removes most of the weeds when he mows the lawns. However, we have a small garden near our front gate which can't be seen from the house or the road and therefore gets a little neglected. Basically, the only people who see it are our visitors and since Mum and Dad where due for a visit...you guessed it...time to get stuck in.

Our car was overdue for a warrant of fitness. I was going to book her in for a service and W.O.F at the usual place but I was worried because we only have the one car and we'd have a fair distance to walk home. Also, I knew the car needed a few repairs, which could be expensive.

The Good

Our home is looking great.

Coco looks very cute and smells good after her bath.

Garden looked much better for Mum and Dad's arrival.

Dad had a fabulous Father's Day.

We noticed a new vehicle testing garage when we were out shopping. We booked the car for a service, enjoyed the scenery on our lovely 20 min walk home and the car came back all shiny, clean and ship shape AND it wasn't as expensive as we thought.

The Rugby

I'm sooooo excited. It's less than a year (by a couple of days) until the Rugby World Cup kicks off in New Zealand *does Dance of Joy as demonstrated here*.

As if that wasn't exciting enough, the All Blacks will be playing Australia tonight for the Tri-Nations trophy. Actually, New Zealand are too far ahead points wise, for any team to catch them, which means they've already won the Tri-Nations.  I'll still enjoy watching the game and cheering my boys on.

Hope you are well.

Flash 55 - Quake Zone

An almighty roar wakes them, the room shakes violently, books fly from shelves. They stumble around in the darkness, searching for safe haven. Sam barks urgently as he runs between the two of them. His instincts tell him they must flee from their former sanctuary. Rumblings stop, the house is still, but for how long?

Inspired by the tragic events which have taken place this past week in New Zealand. Christchurch experienced a 7.1 magnitude quake in the early hours of Saturday morning. There has been major damage to many buildings but thankfully no fatalities. The City is still experiencing after shocks and may continue to do so for some time. New Zealand consists of the North and South Islands, the quake hit Christchurch ,which is located in the South Island. Steve and I live in the North Island so we are far from the danger but a big thank you to all who have enquired after our welfare. My thoughts are with everyone in Christchurch, especially dear Marja.

Here are some pics of the damage.

Coco's World - I think It's A Hare But It's Blue

Here's my contribution to CC. Click here for more Camera Critters

Over the years, I've bought my wee girl many doggie toys. Said toys were usually destroyed within the hour.

Coco received a free toy sample with a new flavour of dog biscuits.

I kept a close eye on her as she set to work on this rather unusual looking....I think it's a hare but it's blue.

Would You Like Dog Biscuits With That?

Hi all,

I'll get to the dog biscuits shortly...

Steve has been working flat out (as usual) but we have FIVE days off coming up.

*does the dance of joy* as demonstrated here by Joss Wheedon...love this!

Actually, Steve does a great interpretation of this dance, I will see if I can secretly video tape him .

Looking forward to dining at our favourite sushi place  (don't panic, they don't serve dog biscuits, I'm getting to that part), celebrating Father's Day with my parents and generally goofing off.

See y'all in a week.

If you can't wait a week to see me ...you can check out the new features on my blog.

They are here *points up* below the KB's Room - Do Not Enter bit.

That should keep you busy until I return.

As daffodils bloom
Summer is imminent
For me, not a moment too soon
